Re: kill switch?

search to find some locations.

then hide it where you and only you would think to look... don't post about it (not saying there are crocks on here, but people can search and find locations)

and don't even tell people about it.

go to drastic measures if need be if you live in a really bad area by using more anti theft techniques

Re: kill switch?

I would use two in line.
That way even if they find one and switch it, the car won't start. This will make them crazy thinking it is something else. They will check and check, until they realize they won't be able to start the car, but they might never know it was the other switch. ;)

Or they'll find both and take the car anyways :-X :S

as far as location, it has to be hidden but easy to get to. You could put it under a seat, on the side of the console, inside the armrest, somewhere behind the dash, or the glove box. But more than likely you'll have to get creative with it.

One guy here talked about a magnetic switch once. Where you can put it under the dash pad, then put a magnet over it to make it work and go. Take off the magnet and you kill the power. I have never seen this work.....or even seen the switch....

my freinds kill switch is installed inside his a/c vent, he has the entire inside painted flat black so u cant see it from the outside he always has an unsharpend pencil in his glove box to flip the switch,
i think its a kick ass place to put a kill switch

I did a fuel pump kill switch. just make sure you wire it up correctly. it took me forever to figure out how to wire it up right...I will prolly add another in line later. thanks for that idea davcivic.

Re: kill switch?

well if you don't like the idea of disconnecting you ECU and taking it with you, then put a switch on the MAP signal wire ... bahahahahaaaaa

Re: kill switch?

wire the fuel pump into the ac button, the best hiding places are in plain view.
but i would have anouther one somewhere else as well.

My friend has a kill switch hooked up to his brights but the only thing is if someone wants his car bad enough they can tell he flashes the brights everytime he starts his car

Last 2 are really good ideas, but might "accidentally" figured out if you know what I mean. :-\

Re: kill switch?

i say why worry about fuel kills when you should be more worried about not letting them into your car. best idea is to get a second battery and wire it to your alarm so if they do pop the hood and undo the battery the second one will keep it on. also use hood pins and air horns along with the siren. do everything to make them scared to get in it and then you wont have to worry about fuel cuts and what not.

Actually what i did for my friend's car was unhook his cig. lighter (cause he doesn't smoke anyway, and he already had a 12v. accessory socket) and wire it to a couple of relays into his main relay. In order to start the car you take the cig. lighter and push it into the socket all the way like you were trying to heat it up, then turn the key. Or you could go a step further and make it so that it only clicks over the relays at a certain resitance value, such as a "specialty" lighter with the resitance to match. Carry the lighter with you if ya want, and it's almost like having a second key. Like someone else said before...sometimes the most unlikely places are the best.

Re: kill switch?

The lighter switch is a good idea, but SOOO MANY people have done it, the thieves know. The lighter switch, holding down the turn signal switch, holding the lock or unlock button, all done many many times. Not saying these are bad ideas, but against an experienced thief, they will not work. There are other options that you can use alone or in conjuction with one of the previous ideas. You can buy transponder based "kill switches" that will interupt whatever circuit they are connected to when the transponder (which is on your keychain) is not in range (only a couple of feet) of the receiver. Another one that I like is using the cigarette lighter and a pressure switch. The pressure switch is hidden under the carpet in a location that you can reach with your left hand while turning the key with your right. This switch would be connected to a starter interupt relay that is hooked up in a normally open position. When the switch is pressed and the key is turned, it allows the relay to close and the starter to activate. Adding the cigarette lighter into this woud involve using the lighter circuit to interupt the path from the pressure switch to the relay. This way, you can leave the lighter pressed in most of the time, but when you want that extra protection, you can pull the lighter out and take it with you or throw it in the glove box so that even if they happen to find the pressure switch, it still will not work. :y

Re: kill switch?

if an experienced thief wants your car, he/she will have it no matter who you are and what you do - 99% you lose ... so do stuff for the stupid thiefs, in which case you can make a switch wherever you want and they won't find it :)
