Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
5 Attachment(s)
I got an 88 LX 4 door on a really good trade. I kinda just put this car together with leftovers in my garage. Alot of the turbo stuff was just old stuff I had laying around. I orignally planned to just put the motor in, but I got bored and I always feel the need to change my mind so I pieced a kit on. Finally found some time to finish pulling the old motor out and putting my b20 in. Now just waiting on a tune.... I got the exhaust all welded up (2.5 turbo back) and its so quiet I love it. It sounds like a stock dual point very sleeper. No nagging on the headlights or my ghetto 02 plug lol, i know they need to come out (last of my worries right now). I ran a 13.8 @ 99mph naturally aspirated with this setup in my crx so I am anxious to see what it runs. Many more pics and updates to come when i can gather some money for a tune.
These are just some quick shitty shots I thought I would throw up. Setup is: JDM B20 stock bottom end B20 Head port/polish Crower 402T cams , Crower valve springs/retainers kit Golden Eagle Cam gears Skunk 2 intake mani 390cc's Colt injectors (have 450's to put in) MSD 6AL, Coil, Cap egay wires Chinabay blow-off valve w/ homemade IC piping Chinabay intercooler Socketed p28 on Chrome (shitty basemap) SFP log manifold, 2.5 downpipe Tial 38mm wastegate w/ dumptube Precision GT32B 50 trim Hardware store oil lines w/ oil restrictor http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/IMG_0355.jpg Attachment 11831 Attachment 11832 Attachment 11833 Attachment 11834 Attachment 11835 |
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
I would re-think that valve cover breather.
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
Thats sweet!
I had a 88 4door that same color with the same wheels, but I sold it :-[ |

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
i dont have a good feeling about your oil pressure sending unit hangin out like that
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
didnt notice that at first def need to get that in check

4dr FTW

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
5K miles has damaged ring seal permanently. Sure it still runs, but the whole turbo Honda doesn't last long rep is 110% attributable to your view that it's just for a little while.
The bad ring seal starts introducing oil into the engine and burnin- let me start over. The bad ring seal starts introducing oil into the engine and detonating, leaving carbon deposits that can hotspot and flare up again. Goforth refuses to listen to me. His fresh engine with maybe nine hours and fifteen passes on it has oil on top of the pistons after a pass. It's either a timebomb or a powerful rebuildable core, maybe both if you are a fan of quantum physics. Pretty shitty way to treat a 700 whp build. |

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
finally got this thing to the track. It ran a 13.4 and trapped 106 on street tires with my traction bar coming loose and making my car uncontrollable. Next time I'll be able to harsh it more and throw some good drag radials on or slicks and definately be in the 12's. Not bad for a stock b20 w/ cams on 5 pounds ;) and w/ 2.2 60 foots because of traction issues...I will post the video up of the traction bar just taking a ---- on me. My wheel pretty much is tucked in the fender during the burnout....ftl

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
did u fix ur breather problem? I had the home depot filter clog on me and i was shooting oil out the tail pipe and the valve cover... now i use to road as my catch can. Just have 2 hoses pointing @ the ground. :8
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
ha yeah I am doing the exact same thing lol. I am too cheap to buy I catch can. I just bought the fittings for the back of the block an ran a hose off each one.
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
dump pipes and hoses to the ground ftmfw :6 Anyway, whats the reasoning behind that enormous oil pressure sending unit at the turbo? was it just easier to put there? instead of it hangin there I would run some ss hose to it and just zip tie it up somewhere so the weight wasn't vibrating on it. Love the car though...13.4@106 thats movin for 5 lbs..I want an ef

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
What i noticed on my LS is when you take that check valve out and look inside, max diameter that vacuum can go through is only about 1/8 of an inch. You should try to get a 1/2" 90* hose fitting and run a 1/2" hose to the ground. or some big ass fittings and hoses and tap them into the valve cover. BTW i have never seen an overflow bottle on a civic mounted to the firewall. |
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
not digging the sending unit potential catastrophe but otherwise kickass. I love sedans!
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
wicked build. reminds of my 4dr and how much i miss it
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
Yea I fogot to mention I took the sending unit off before I ever ran it like that. I just capped off the tee and ran it from the back of the block. For the valve cover i am just going to put a b18a valve cover on so I dont have to worry about the pcv valve hole. I had all the redneck V8 guys at the track saying WTF lol. They were like that shitbox honda sedan is running what time?.? Gotta love it when your $2000 POS out runs someones 20,000 car. Old body's FTW :6
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
anyone else on here running a turbo on a stock b20 bottom end.. besides me and ///bangodango/// the only reason i did my b20 setup was to actually see how long it would last being stock and turbo and because of all the horror story's their are about stock b20's.(also because i got the b20 motor for $200 and needed something because i blew my gsr :4).but for me its been over a year now and so far its all good... ;)
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
nice setup, but dont see why you didnt flip the turbo the other way since you have no AC
overall sick car man |
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
I only ran it that way becuause I already had a downpipe made for it. All my bolt holes are stripped out for the traction bar mounting. Somone shoot me....time to break out the welder for homemade mounting :8
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
vtec swap that ----
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
whats the point of vtec when you have a turbo.... turbo = vtec in my opinion (couple more pounds = vtec :6) I am all about being cheap
|
Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
reducing restriction into the turbo = better

Re: Just waiting on a tune... 4door EF sedan B20 turbo
Thats gotta be the first time the track has been open in awhile all this rain sucks. If you need a b18a1 valve cover I have a couple laying around.
