Well that showing was just pathetic!

I've been watching games when I go home for lunch, and the US looked like amateurs out there. they lost 2 games and tied one. That's just sad- What about that adidas commercial or whatever where the dude says the world no longer looks forward to playing us? what a crock!

It made sense though when "Around the Horn" came on and the one dude says the average salary to play in the MLS league is $25,000 a year, who wants to go do something like that? They'll never get decent players if they don't pay for them.

Then again, I still hate watching soccer, so maybe the only reason I care is because basketball is over. >:(

Soccer is still the best sport in the world! But yeah the US played terrible in their showing, but they did hold off Italy in a 9 vs 10 game, so that was about their only highlight of the tourny.

That's bull ---- if any sport is for fags it would be baseball, all they do is stand around in a field all game long. Soccer is one of the only sports that reqires both individual and team skills.

Hockey is actually the best sport eva. Same concept as soccer, except you can throw down with someone you don't like and all you get is a 5 minute break.

That and lacrosse [box not field] is great too.You can crosscheck and ---- people right up.Then if buddy gets lippy you drop your stick and beat the ---- out of him and get a 5 min penalty.Soccer is great for poor people/countries as you only need a ball and a little reasonably flat ground to play, also great for parents who are scared there kid will get hurt so they can sign them up to play.

People here have too much pride in their own stuff to the point where they think everything else suck, which is sad.

Quick example: These stupid ----------er at the class think i am lying when i told them the elevators back in hongkong will go from the 1st floor to 20th floor within 20 seconds. They bascially told me its it "not true", "impossible" and that i am lying.
People really need to open up their mind to new stuff.

I'd like to see any pro football player last an entire game like a soccer player would.... I guarantee 95% wouldnt make it to halftime without crapping out ;D Soccer is not for the weak.

we would have done better if the reffs wern't german. iono if anyone actually watched all the games, i saw every minuute of all 3, refs can eat a dik on some of them calls, like the penalty shot vs ghana. And the us did pretty well against italy considering they were playing with 9 men instead of the usual 11. they an't bad, they sucked in the first game that was bout it.

op whoever told you 25k salary isn't right, good players get multi million dollar contracts, ronaldinho was offered somethin like 130 mill to come play over here. the best player for ghana has a 45 million dollar contract to play for some club in europe.

Yeah there may be some players out there that are agile. But all soccer players have to be, plus they don't get a break every 15 seconds to set up new plays. Soccer players have to run for 45 min straight and most play whole games because they only get 3 subs a game. But that was a good point that a 300+ person would last to long with any decent soccer player.

So I went home and wathed the Korea and Switzerland (sp?) game- at least i think it was them, maybe it was spain? anyway did anyone else see that last total BS goal?

The side ref called offsides and had the flag raised so the Korean guys stopped playing and one of the other guys kicks it in the goal and the head ref overrules the sideline ref and gives them the point! that's worse officiating than goes on in the NFL right now!!! Total BS.... :1 :3

Yeah that goal was crap and the center offical shouldn't have waved off the off sides, but the outcome was still the same even without that goal they would have won 1 to 0.
