Stock bottom ends have been documented to hold 1000Hp. Weak link is the pistons once you get over 600 or so. Block is heavy duty. Plenty of stock bore LSX blocks making crazy power. Before I go and hang my snails off the headers I am building a forged 408 to make sure it does not go boom. Right now, I would say I am pretty much at the limits of a nitrous LS1 car. Should put out around 600ish HP and 680ish TQ at the wheels after the tune for the new kit. I know that is kind of ricer math, but the numbers should be there.

1000hp wow! what does it cost to do the 408? I have not messed with a American car since 2002. these are the only pics I can locate. I did a trickflow package mod (heads, intake, cam) for a friend of mine while I was in the navy. this thing was very nasty. the car was a 1996 mustang.

The car was discontinued in 2006. There are no new ones. 3 year production run, about 40,000 of them were made. Lots of them have been wrecked, including 300 of them that were in a car transporter train derailment. GM sold them all to a pull-a-part yard in Cleveland. They sell the parted out pieces on EBay and have made a fortune.
