Junkyard stories

Do any fo you guys have any crazy stories of whats happened in the junkyard.

I almost got beat with a huge wrench when i tried to take a bov off from a DSM this wicked old asian guy was working on. And that same junkyard now has 2 turbo's, a complete b18B, 2 intercoolers, everything i need for my dpfi--> mpfi swap and my rear brake conversion with an LXI booster and master cylinder sitting in the trunk of an old old caprice waiting for the opertune time for me to get em out

Re: Junkyard stories

Myself and a buddy were looking for parts on a thursday and the guy tells us that on saturday they're having a going out of buisness sale. $25 to get in the door, all you can carry out. So we went and pulled all the parts we wanted and hid them and on saturday morning we show up, ------ out and have all the turbos/intercoolers in that whole place along w/other goodies. (I honestly can't remember how many turbos we had. They were all junk but either used for parts or traded for parts.) People were so pissed 8)

My friend called a tow truck to pick up a rx7 they just dropped off at the junkyard, we stripped it and took the shell back. Most the time i just throw parts over the fence and walk around back to get them.

All we do is throw it over the fence or put it in our pockets

had a guy try and tell me his cadillac had a intercooler and that they were hindreds of dollars. I wa sholding a sprint turbo intercooler that is small as hell at the time. I tried to explain that there not expensive and your not chargin me an assload for a little toy. He kept tryin to tell me his caddie had one. He thought it was an oil cooler and basically was callin me an idiot.

I went to the junkyard yesterday trying to find a 2.8L engine for a camaro/firebird. We pulled 4 engines and all had bad bearings. I also found 6 Turbo Lebarons....but I didn't grab the turbos cause they look like a pain in the ass to get out.

lebaron turbo's make my hands hurt when i think about how crazy they had to bend to fit between the firewall and the engine.

Re: Junkyard stories

Lebarons have the turbo mounted on the back of the engine down low. I've never wasted my time trying to get one, PITA

Found my car in the parking lot at pull-a-part. Keys in the ignition, title on the seat... so I hopped in and drove it home.

Re: Junkyard stories

I went to a junkyard and found a saab turbo and decided to ask how much it was before even touching it. the guy at the counter said, "uh, that turbo sells for $200". I looked at him and said, "where?" hahaha Then we left.

I wasn't there, but Ghetto D told me yesterday that Julio recently went to the junk and tried to snag an ecu. He got caught and they made him pay $40 for it. hahaha. Midwest junkyards own you ECU= $14 ;)

Re: Junkyard stories

we have a junkyard here that specializes in volvo, porshe...(imports) and i went there looking for a turbo. the guy said he was about to close, but i could come back and go through the "ambulance of turbos" which was an old ambulance full of turbos. so kevin and i went there, went back to the ambulance, and there were about 3 seized up turbos and nothing else :-X

kevin and i were all excited to get there buy a bunch of turbos, and found nothing. :P

I did manage to get away with a long snap-on extension though, which i use all the dam time.

Re: Junkyard stories

Nothing really bad happened.

I use propane torches to melt the snow out of the engine bays, that is a good trick in MN. Just don't get caught using it.

and yeah the chrysler turbos suck. Not worth the time to get a weird ass flanged turbo.
