JunkYard Engine Prices?

What's the normal price on an engine/transmission (Dseries) out of a wrecked civic? The ones I'm looking at are all over 130k miles on them. Also, what's the average price for a saab turbo? Trying to see how much I can jew them down on the quotes. thanks

I'm looking at a D16Z6 and a D16a1

usually you can get engine and tranny for under 300 at a u-pull-it type of yard. i paid 300 for just a z6 engine at a local yard..but they did all the work

here if I recalled they charge $150 longblock (no accesories), $75 transmission and you gotta pull it by yourself. Don' forget to add tax on top of that.

that's about the prices i expected, one yard i went to wanted 800 bucks for a z6 with 180k on it. I just laughed and walked off.

thats a bit much for a z6.obviously a salvage yard is gonna be more expensive then a pick n pull type of place.they usually check out the engine/trans before they sale it and offer some type of warranty.they usually know what there worth aslo.pick n pulls do not offer warranties of any kind(atleast not the ones in san antonio).salvage yards make their money back either way cas some people do want that little bit of reassurance that they got a warranty incase the engine blows.my .02 cents

^ exactly. My pick and pull charges 150 for any lockblock. Don't matter if it's a v8 v12 vtec, has a built in vtech phone into the valve cover. They pull it for you and load it. Just check it over before hand is all you really can do since they sell them as core motors. Pull the vc, oil pan if you can, turn it over by hand to see if it's not locked up. Thats about all you can do.

from 150-350 around here and turbos are 30 to 100 depending on the yard
