junk american car rant

well so the deal is the wife has a 02 saturn(and i know that it is a disposible car...she has had it since new, before we where married, i never would have let that ---- fly if i had a say in it at the time....well we did all the things we should have oil changes, tune ups all that bullshit....god damn piece of ---- spun a ------- bearing at 110 thousand miles on it.....no warning no nothing just ------- let go.....i know that it was junk and was going to die...but i thought we had another 30 or 40 thousand before that would happen. sadly i was wrong...don't know what we are going to do yet..haven't decided if i'm just going to go to my pick and pull and get another engine for it...or just suck it up and get a new car....which money wise will suck...just switched jobs and money is tight now....----.....

cliff note....wife had shitty saturn before we got married spun a bearing at 110thousand miles.....have rope and will hang myself

Let her take care of it :)

That's how America works

Re: junk american car rant

yea i know that is how america works......making cars to break at 100,000...and i wish i could let her deal with it, but it is the only "family safe" car we have i drive a work van for the most part and my hatch is sitting in the garage half stripped out.....so it is my problem i have to figure out how she is going to get the kid to the babysitter and her ass to work....it just sucks.....i have been wanting to get a wrx wagon for a while now...this might be my chance.. :6 better odds is we find a cheaper civic to get by on till we have more loot

I could agree with the hyundai thing but not kia. Kias are on the same par with daewoo's imo. I never really liked Hyundai's but my great uncle Dan has one and its treated him very well with absolutely minimal problems; their f22 odyssey has given them much more problems.

BTW saturns are known for this type of ish. I'm surprised the tranny didn't go out first. My saturn had like, 130k miles and had a new tranny in it :S

Yeah that'll work for about 15 minutes before spinning another.

Re: junk american car rant

you're an idiot.

there are millions of saturns with hundreds of thousands of miles on them. at some point in time it wasn't taken care of or its a fluke.

it was probably abused by your wife before you met her or the previous owner.

my grandpa has a 71 chevy truck with about 300k miles on it with the orginal motor. a couple of years ago i replaced the orginal alternator...

don't be a fag put a 5 dollar bearing in it. unless you are too stuipd to do that and your specialty is putting huge wings on slow cars

why not just try it? open it up, see how bad it is scored and get the oversized bearings. then make sure it runs and sell the bitch to some nignog that has no clue.

wow...i cant believe that i just head two people say that kias are good. i worked at a kia/ford/toyota/scion dealership over the summer, at the time i left there, we had a kia rondo in there with 15k on it getting a new engine because it grenaded its self for no reason. there was another rondo in there with 30k on it with the same problem. also a kia spectra with about 35k on it getting an engine. this was all at one time. shortly before that there was a 60k mile rio getting a new engine. we had a customer come back 40 miles after purchasing a brand new spectra...the ac didn't work. there was a hole in the condenser, so we ordered another one from kia...the new one we ordered had the same exact problem. the techs there could do a rio transmission in an hour and a half because they have done it so many times. we usually had a rio transmission a week to do. yep...that is a quality car..

my buddy had a dohc saturn with 260k on it with no problems till we took it to the drag strip and the throw out bearing went out. At work we have a customer with an f150 4.6 with well over 300k on it the only thing thats had to be replaced is the pcm. but he takes care of it. All cars break and have problems some just more than others. Hyundais are the ---- though and uber reliable. they break too at some point as well.

Case in point, my '03 is300 has 80k and the original break pads, rotors, ect. The build quality is by far superior to any caddilac of the same year....hate to say it, but most american cars are ----. Still have a hard on for my 89 toronado, but I will never go back to a gm after owning 4 gm cars that were about as reliable as an SSAC mani.

Planned obsolescence, look it up.

One thing to think about, Toyota has, in recent times, rivaled that of Gm in sales, revenue, ect. There are reports that some of the newer toyota models have had some quality control problems as of late....

Read these books: (if any of you read books) "Internal Combustion" and "All Consuming Images".., They are a good read.

homo.

your gay car uses the same brake pads as everyother. bad comparison.

you're just a dumbass thats why your cars aren't reliable. lemme guess you haven't touched your is300 and it still works like it should. amazing concept

anyway, all cars are gonna have problems. yes even hondas <omfg> have spun bearings at 110k, who cares. it happens to everyone, just bad luck. suck up the $500 (at most) and throw in a motor. telling you now, you'll regret the payments for that subie. but all your call in the end of course.

saturns made in springhill TN are known for that type of ish.

a g6 feels like its going to explode when you floor it. chevy trucks have spongy old man seats. fwd gm's sound like a blender for a starter, and along with anything they make. ford have shitty castings in the heads. toyota slipped quality control for new models, look at the tundra thread as of late. i worked at a nissan dealership somewhat recently, ----. the only recalls were altima rear subframes, something about a bad casting from a certain vin number, and leaky pinion seals on the titans/armadas. ill get a picture of all the recall replacment crates tomorrow after work for proof. i now work at a subie dealership. i've yet to see anythnig that doesnt normally break. sam, guy in the bay next to me, just did an inspection on a justy, 233k on the clock and a few years ago, all he's done was rotors. he's been inspecting that car since day 1.. all the techs have been working there since before 1990, cept the new guy, and me.

in short, american cars have nothing to live up to, other than being lower quality. why improve low quality, when you can't afford to pay the union workers to do it right in the first place?

Hmmm...What would McGuyver do? Stuff the journal with gum wrappers and use a bic pen to shim any clearances. Then epoxy your tounge to the crank and turn the engine over to verify the repair. Once complete, kick one of the supporting jackstands out. Problem solved.
