Default JR S/C hot air debate..

ok i got a frind of mine has a jR s/c on his integra gsr b18c1 all stock just sc running 6 psi tuned on crome 201whp dynoed

this thing starts to feel week after 6500 rpm and his askin why?!! im thinking the air gets hotter and hotter as you spin the S/C faster like a turbo compressor leaving its efficiency range..

who has knowledge of wack S/C's chime in

local guy with a HYPE R that i did a JRSC install for was complaining about the same thing. NA he put out 200whp and on the blower he made a measly 210 and it started to feel weak as ---- as soon as it the car ran for a period of time.

I believe it is because it is because those s/c are 46 to 62 cid which maybe alright at low end the s/c is not spinning enough on the high end.
Should of used a 84 cid/rev like mine I never runout of air all the way 8k rpms.

Super chargers are for super pussies. I guess unless it's on an OEM car or something.

But why bother installing one. It's about the same work as installing a turbo.

Not really I did S/C setup in a lot less time than a turbo because I did not have modify my exhaust or run oil lines.
I even hooked it up to the A/C switch on the dash to turn the s/c on or off.
I spent more time gathering parts together than installing.
I even use a edelbrock intercoler and 2.5" piping.
Fabricated a crude belt tensioner system.
I have boost from 1.5k all the way 8k anytime.
While maintaining 30+mpg in town.

I boosted alot of cars without intercoolers before you could even get an intercooler for less than 500 bucks hence the lack of them. They all ran violent without them. If the car sint overheating the issue isnt heat.

Yeah, I've read the blowers that come with those kits are on the small size and don't deliver good power up top. I'd run a S/C but it would have to be a centrifugal blower....

I have never really looked at the design but a larger throttle body, set of ctr cams and some port work will balance out the small charger they use. Also what header is he running? There is a brand kamakizee which has fallen of in years but its suppose to work really well on the jrsc set ups.
