Joseph's intercooler.

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
damn...now thats ghetto looking...even the manifold looks ghetto...lol

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Thanks, it's my signature trademark... ghetto-ness, that is.
We ran out of gas for the TIG, I decided 5 minutes to Homeboy Depot for some metal epoxy to seal the few pinholes we had left was much better than the 45 minute drive to BOC to pick up another tank. That's what the blobs of black ---- are. :> 24"X11"X4" chunk... will it do? |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Please dont take this as an insult, but you might want to paint it flat black ;)
Whatever works right? |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
I will, but I have to get some different color zip ties to mount it with before I can paint it. An intercooler simply won't work properly if the zip ties you mount it with don't stand out; ghetto bling, you know.

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
You know whats funny, I have a large assortment of Zip ties with all kinds of good colors, HotPink/Purple and even lime green.
I'm a bit rusty, but is that a LS in the little rex of yours? along with a 5g Radiator? |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Nice man, Im a big fan of the 'stacked' core mod.....lol
I second the flat black vote.... ;) |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
that is pretty ghetto looking
but you know the sad thing it'll most likely spank my ass ;D |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
flat black is sexy
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
does it work good? interesting concept.;)
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
You are rusty but servicable, Jeff, just like my B18B CRX HF. Good eye. ;)
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
How did u get that rad in there?
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
The radiator, and radiator fan, is also held in with zip ties. Of course.
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
nice, if your gonna go ghetto go all the way.. hit up some bright green zip ties ahaha
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
I think that is the ghettoist fast car I've ever seen in my entire life, which is a very extensive life.

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
DEEAAMM! that is hella ugly, but you know what, i like it! whatever works man, good job!
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Please clean your headlights man, that would suck if you got in a wreck.

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Now guys.. It is a very good design. The epoxy is there for two reasons.. First after a very long weekend wrenching we ran out of tig gas.. Second. When the previous onwer of the cores cut the end tanks off they actually cut into the cap portion. This caused leaks around the outside edge that we could not get too.. We had a plan and were part way through fixing it when the tig died. The epoxy puddy worked great and filled in all the little holes. The only reason its help on with zip ties is the tig died and I couldn't weld on mounting tabs. And it works very well.
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
wait! let me guess.. you planned on welding the rad supports on AFTER the IC, and thats why the rad is zip tied? :-X
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
You mean that flimsy hood latch bar? That was gone when he got rear ended in the parking lot. The radiator sits on the place racing crossmember. And its in there very secure. The next time he is up things will be taken care off.. Not to mention he will be running one of my manifolds by them and I will probably have a nice shinny new front mount for him. Once the bumper is on that intercooler doesn't move. It flows a ton of air and works great.. I'm really not sure why you guys have such a problem with it. He has practically no money into the car and it rips. I have seen some really bad/ghetto setups on here and they either don't work or the cars blow up in no time... He has had the turbo on the car for a few years now with no problems.
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
running great or not, the car still looks ghetto.

Oops, sorry Kyle. I meant to post this to homemadeturbo.com, not homemadebling.com. Sorry for wasting the bandwidth. ;)

Re:Joseph's intercooler.
hey joe how does "dad" or crazy joe like those hyperutectic pistons. i have some of those in my camaro. they're pretty cool
|
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
I know Sitar is pulling pieces of one of the #4 pistons out of his oil pan right now, or was last weekend. Whichever car he has the EMS hooked to, I forget. I think Crazy Joe's car is still holding together pretty well. I haven't paid much attention to Sitar on the jyturbo list recently.
Much respect and all that, but after reading "had to sandbag and run low 10's in my $3000 car so they wouldn't kick me off the track for not having all the required safety equipment, but I ran a 9.87 the last run of the evening" and "I broke even deeper into the 9's despite (insert big problem here) in my $3000 car" and "I only got 680 rwhp from my $3000 car because the slicks were spinning on the dyno rollers" a bunch of times I had to ignore the man or hate my Honda. I have to live my life, and I'd like to make it a happy one, you know. |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
lol
i like the hyperutectic pistons... they're pretty strong. and they dont slap around like aluminum pistons... pretty nice for a street car like my camaro. |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Hypereutectic make better power NA than forged/plain cast. They resist heat transferrence due to composition a touch better, keep the power in the combustion chamber. Crazy how silicon levels and materials handling add up.
What Camaro do you have? |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
67 SS with a 409ci small block na...
11.7:1 solid lifter cam, 1.5 roller rockers. um can't remember what heads they are. they're made by some company that makes racing heads from regular molds... they're cast. those pistons some aftermarket rods. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/camaro_side.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss...ngine_side.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss...ARD_CAMARO.jpg |
Re:Joseph's intercooler.
Goddamn, 67 SS? WTF is a rich man like you doing with poor Honduh kids?
