I worked in the used car industry for several years(Carmax) and I dont think I ever saw a problem with one of these. The older single cam motors would need a timing chain at about 1000,000 miles but thats it, the newer twin cam motors are very reliable. Fun car to drive hard, rear wheel drive, easy to push threw the corners at very high speeds.

Customcoach is right, the ka24's are very solid motors, however the timing chains/guides/tension should be replaced at around 100,000 miles, they will make noise and sometimes ---- up the front cover. Its not exactly the easiest job to do, but it can be done.
