jackson racing supercharger

anyone here ever use one on a honda? i've found one for a pretty cheap price and was just looking for some feedback from someone with experience with jackson racing or any other supercharger. i've heard horror stories about them but i've also good things.

well, everyone has an opinion. you prolly hear good things about them from people who have them and have never had a turbo. i can almost bet you haven't found one for 1k dollars or less, therefore, you would be better off getting a turbo, it will be cheaper, more easily upgraded, and you will never be able to make as much power with a supercharger as you can with a turbo. about the only positive thing about an sc, is that you don't have lag.

Re:jackson racing supercharger

you can change the size of the SC's drive pulley to pump out more psi... 5psi stock, smaller pulley = faster spinning = 7-9 psi ;)

Re:jackson racing supercharger

yeah, i know, but you can also get a bigger turbo ;)

Get a T-Bird Eaton M-90 SC from Onyx..15 psi stock that thing should be enough

Re:jackson racing supercharger

Well from what I have seen there really not all that impressive. I have raced alot of them and a basic dohc zc swap takes a stock si crx with one of the jackson chargers so it's not all that fast. For the cost unless it's less than a grand skip on it and by far the best f.i on hondas is turbos.

Re:jackson racing supercharger

SC hondas are very slow. It takes soo much power away from the motor just to spin the damn thing. Also would you really want to be changing pulleys all the time for more boost? But if you really want a charger a centrifical blower from Vortec is 100% better than the roots blower from jackson racing

Supercahrgers=parasitic drag!
There too expensive for the power you get.

word to above, superchargers are too spendy, plust JR bearing have been know to fail, rendering you useless. Get a turbo and a smile, and save the cash for brakes

wow this is the first argument turbo/SC that hasned ended in a brawl. Any way i have a crappy recording on one at 10 PSI on a civic Si 2000. here it is: http://www.jdmdelsol.com/super/5best.wav

I like it personally and will beat a turboed SOHC VTEC at 13 PSI. yes this was tested at the local track.

Yeah Superchargers can sound absolutely sick as hell, but so do turbos ::). Personally I don't want a car that just sounds fast.

well, a b16 TURBO at 10 psi would own an sohc vtec 13 psi too

or at least should and definately could, but some people just suck at tuning...

Re:jackson racing supercharger

I don't think too much of centrifugal superchargers because why bother having lag and lose out on the advantages of a turbine driving your compressor? Roots blowers and whipple chargers are better because they are positive displacement and more efficient than cetrifugal superchargers overall. I guess my real argument is the fact that an exhuast turbine can spin up a compressor pretty fast without a hell of a lot of exhaust pressure while a crank-driven centrifugal compressor has to wait around for its RPM unless coupled to a very well adjusted CVT.

Re:jackson racing supercharger

Oh yeah, and assuming the same pressure ratio and stuff (psi and cfm), turbo will always make more power.
