It's really hard to hear pinging on a v8 or any car for that matter when you have a external wastegate plumbed to vent atmosphere, so we are going to run a dumptube back into the exhaust, get a boost controller and crank it up! This thing is going to rip when everything is done.

What you need is a mic and preamp hooked to the stethescope, with Baldur under the Hood, hook the pre amp up to your 2000watt sub behind the seat, everytime the windows blow out, get Baldur to twist the dizzy!!

I usually sit inside the car when mapping, just route the hose for the stethoscope outside the window and into the engine compartment, where it's bolted to the cylinder head. It's a good way to hear if it's detonating, and how intense the knock is. Then just pull the timing in the appropriate areas of the ignition map and do another test run.
5th gear is the best for mapping the spark curve, because with the lowest rate of acceleration the engine is the most prone to detonation.
