I haven't heard of very many people losing money investing in land. I can guarentee NOBODY has lost any money investing in land in this city in the last ~15 years. I see a bigger risk investing in stocks. Companies can go under overnight and you're fucked.

Still, a solid million is a hard goal in any time period under 10 years, especially with a modest income at best. And if you think about it, do you need to have a million in the bank to feel secure? Rather have a million invest in something like a CD for my future family, than just have it where I could spend it. But seriously, JSDA...
