the market is way too volatile right now if you're starting out....

But if you must, sharebuilder.com - little less demanding than etrade and what have you. If you had another 90gs i'd pitch you on being an equity partner in one of our deals and you could probably come close to doubling up, before taxes obviously. Goodluck and be careful whatever you do....

I think since you said you plan to use the money for a home you probably don't want to go high risk like others have said. Home is one of the best investments you can make anyway. I would say something low risk and of course low return. Of course you could stand to make more from the stocks, but I would only do that if you are willing to wait on the home purchase, since stocks could very well take a dump in the next 6 months which would make you wait to recover the 10k.

Eh, it's gonna get worse for the next few months as the dollar declines. But that in turn will drag down China, which will drive down oil, which will raise consumer spending, which will strengthen the market. Or so one hopes

Read lot's. Depending on your risk tolerance look at stock as opposed to bonds. They offer better returns. Your economy is ----, ours isn't much better. Look at China.
