internet connection computer help

Well about 3 weeks ago my internet connection ---- the bed in my room. I have a router going from the main connection splitting the connection through both our computers. The other computer's connection is fine, but mine just decided to stop working. I replaced the ethernet cable because the clip on the end of the cable was broke and it would sometimes lose connection because of that. Now there's activity for the port on the eouter side. The computer is getting a connection because I see the power and activity lights blinking on the back of the computer where the cable plugs into the router. Also, when I go into network connections under control panel, it shows the connection as "connected" and has x thousand bytes both sent and received. All this but when I try to click on firefox or IE, it just waits and waits and then 404 error like i'm getting no connection at all. Same thing with AIM and all that ----. Anyone have any idea what the deal is here? I have a feeling I gotta ---- with some settings or somethin. Thanks

Re: internet connection computer help

did you try a different port on the router? it could be the router is either bad, or needs to be reconfigured.
