interesting conversion........
first ive ever heard of this....but again ive never even riden in a DA integra.....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will be attempting a manual steering conversion to my DA. You might say to yourself, "what the hell...thats stupid" or "thats easy, just take the belt off" Well, Im saying "STFU MATES" :P Heres the reasoning behind my decision. 1.) The CRX Si rack that I will be using is 7 lbs 11oz lighter that the power assisted Integra rack. 2.) The 1990-1993 Acura Integras were so overengineered, its sickening. It has speed sensitive steering, with a speed sensor in the tranny that is lubed by the circulated fluid. 3.) The EF (crx si) rack takes only 3 turns LTL. The Integra is 3.5 LTL. 4.) I eliminate the need for the speed sensitive steering, and I can also remove another 30-40lbs of worthless junk. 5.) eliminate some clutter in the engine bay. What I will need is the following: 88-91 CRX or Civic Si steering rack ES rack bushings DA inner and outer tie rods a dremel. -The use of the dremel will be to trim about a 1/4" of sheetmetal around the opening that the steering shaft goes through, to connect to the u-joint. This will allow the shaft to move around freely with the steering wheel tilted all the way down (im short, bug off). Ill keep you guys posted on the purchasing of the parts, and actual progress of the project. |
