intercooler mounting...

snyone got any example pictures of where I can mount an intercooler?? I have noticed the volvo ones seem to be popular with the home made turbo gang....I feel i dont have enough room in front of the radiator and if i do use what little space is there do I have to buy an extra fan for my radiator?
I was thinking of relocating my battery to the boot then putting the intercooler near the air intake setup/battery original location.
any help would be great
cheers
Nick

if your looking for the frontmont if better cooling but some crazy ass pipes that you have to get bent-up for you. The side mounts usally pop right where the battery and intake box go less tubing but more engine heat.. ;)

Fits perfect? let me rephrase that, you will have to modify your chais to get this to fit in just about any car. Relocation end tanks also helps.

Side mounts are bad? for Homemadeturbo setups they are perfect dude, you can easily run 12-15psi more than a stock honda can take, plus they are pretty effiecent if you give them decent air-flow.

jeff.

come on now. you know you love your front mount more than your side mounts.

dont lie!!!!!

na honestly a side mount is easier to mount, especially the 2nd gen dsm ones, however get the starior and be creative lol.
your gonna need to be.

Did I say I didnt like my starion? No, that was a great intercooler, and I miss it alot. I personally like large front mounts to show off and what not. But we have to give the option to people that side mounts do work, and they are very effiecent. Some people cant afford the crazy priced Front mounts, so a $25 sidemount dsm will have to do the trick.. perfect for a homemade low-budget setup.

Re:intercooler mounting...

The piont of having an intercooler is to get the coldest air running through it, so when using a side mount wont that just kill performance? i mean there is no such thing as cold air in an engine bay so how the heck would a side mount do the job? hot air = bad results.

Re:intercooler mounting...

side mounts get plenty of air flow dude, you just need to feed it. Hondas have a great spot (factory resonator box) location. Just like on a dsm.

Tough to see in this pic, but in the lower right of the car (front left facing) you can see the intercooler, the factory foglight location gives good flow to the cooler.
