insight

well, ive been working on my car for a month now. the ---- still isint working right. im tired of having an old car and having to put money into it every week for somthing else that breaks. im thinking about buying an insight. the 70mpg sounds badass and i figure it cant be much slower than a d15b2. has anyone ever driven an insight or do they have allot of problems? other than looking like a "turtle with down syndrome"

Re: insight

most insights only get 55 mpg highway, about the same as my D15B7 5g HB, and mines ALOT quicker than the insight!

Re: insight

my 4g got no where neer 55mpg. id say 35 highway and i thought the 55mpg was city driving?

Re: insight

A buddy of mine gets around 90 in his. But he has some kind of controler that allows him let the electric motor run all the time. I've driven it..Its comparable to an Crx Si in performance but handles alot better.

Re: insight

People have got over 120 mpg before in these, they've set world records.

It runs a low 18 in the quarter mile and with a few tweaks I guess they get really decent mileage, if you drive correctly that is. I'm thinking of buying one here in a couple years when I'm out of college and have the money to purchase one.

Re: insight

honestly, im starting to like the way it looks. its very very practical for a daily driver. and i dont need a status car. and i always like to see good technology being put to use.

Re: insight

i'd rock it.

don't electric motors have instant torque?

Re: insight

Just buy a TDI Jetta or Golf. They get around 50-60 mpg and look nice, handle nice and actually move pretty good with that torque.

Re: insight

some guys at the local auto cross are racing these.. two actualy, they put some nice sticky tires, and are very competative.

i think it's that whole instant torque and hp, something about there being no curve in the power out put per rpm.. some one correct me if i am wrong....

Re: insight

Just one example:

http://www.insightman.com/spring/tourdesol-6-8-00.htm

Four out of six Insight owners broke 90 miles per gallon on several individual legs of the road rally, including Naoto Inoue of Kennebunkport, ME, and Ed Dempsey of Dempsey World Record Associates in Santa Ana, CA. Both owners achieved 93.2 miles per gallon, the highest fuel economy during the road rally.

Re: insight

arent they really expsensive? i thought i heard onthe radio they were 32k. or maybe that was the toyota hybrid. but i heard 32k :/

you'd save money buying a big block nova for $400 and paying for gas rather than paying 30+K for a hybrid lol

Re: insight

but you have instant torque!!!

Re: insight

used ones go fore pretty cheap. in the recycler now it shows a range from $6k-26k with 10 being under 11k.
new ones go for:
Base (starting @ MSRP $19,330)
CVT (starting @ MSRP $21,530)

Re: insight

I saw an accident car one for $3000 that would make a perfect drag car, i see it as the next crx in the pro fwd classes, and all motor since its so light and aerodynamic. its already becoming fairly poplular

J-MAN 09-05-2005 11:47 PM

Re: insight

that's what i was thinking, cut those gay ass rear wheel skirts off and it will look like a 2005 crx

HondaTuner 09-05-2005 11:50 PM

Re: insight

Those help with the aerodynamics though, sadly. They do look like poop.

Re: insight

maybe i heard the ad for the new toyoata hybrid. but whatever it was... it was 32k

Re: insight

i'd certainly rock one.

Re: insight

one of my friends has a neighbor with one. I parked my CRX next to it and it looked like a true 3rd gen CRX. The front is so similar in shape/style to my CRX.

Lets not forget that Bisi is running an Insight... aren't they the most aerodynamic Honda ever?
