Even tho it came out around the wrong time, and all the ---- people talked about it. i'd have to say it wasn't a bad movie. a little computer generated crashes but didn't look to bad. kinda gives you an underground feel for how it is in the mountains in japan. it follows the cartoon a bit, slightly off on character positioning but not a bad movie... no 2f2f lookin cars, just clean japanese cars doing what they do best. awesome driving, acting is funny, has some comedy in it throughout the movie. you guys are prolly gonna flame a bit for me saying it was a good movie but this is just the beginning of the live version of initial D. i watched it a few times cuz its subtitled so some parts ur busy watching so u miss what they say. So in my opinion, not a bad movie...

I have the entire collection, after downloading one from irc. I was hooked. The movie just doesnt follow the series. I like the cars and the races for what it is, fictional entertainment.

funny cuz what its made off is non-fiction. u think those mountains are fake? have u seen the very very first episode? cartoons are very easy to generate scenes and conflict. the movie followed it pretty close jus the dork kid got an 86 instead of an 85..

So this intial D ---- was a cartoon originally and then they made a show about it?I live in BC and the lower mainland of BC is about %50 asian and these guys are always talking about this Intial D stuff along with everything JDM.I thought it was at least a real guy or something.Dam thats some weak ----.

non-fiction means real... non makebelieve. whats happening is real, the races the style everything. the cartoon was made after the fact then a movie followed to make it more interesting. the mountains are real, the cars are real, the driving is real. there really is a drift king but he's not the kid in the movie. the cartoon and movie are based off real events in real life.

its a REAL LIVE MOVIE. not a cartoon. its made to follow the cartoon series but use real people... we bought the dvd so its in japanese but has english sub titles.

yeah, not only did he get the 86 instead of the 85...he was the leader of the speedstars and his dad owned the gas station?? thats not from the original series at all. overall it was a decent movie, i'd watch it again. why bash the movie? its a movie people, just because some people see something on tv and go try to do it doesnt mean that everyone that watches it is going to do that.

i enjoyed the series up until the really bad subtitles in the 4th stage. from the response in this thread, im finding it safe to say ill never see the live action movie.

The movie was for the China market and used chinese actors. Nothing with japanese actors or was it even made in Japan. It's like the ssauto of Initial D.

The mountain where they shoot the movie at is the same mountain in the catoon.

chinese/japanese actors always suck, the movie is just fun to watch. almost the whole movie was boring, i jus like the driving.

i liked the live action it didnt go along with the series or the manga as well as i would have liked but i thought all in all they did really well compacting so much of the story in so little time. and aside from the soundtrack i had no problems with it. i missed the eurobeat.

I liked it, compared to to F&F it doesn't seem to "try as hard." Considering that I downloaded it and no one is profiting and I get to zone out and look at some pretty pictures, its great :)

But not enough killing of innocent animals or $$ shots on unsuspecting people.

I tried downloading the movie on limewire so i could put some input in this thread, but couldnt get one with English subtitles?!?! Anyone know were to get a copy without venturing into Chinatown
