Default Im wanting a new toy

I am wanting to try something RWD but am wanting to do something a little different, not the usual 240.

I have been looking at the old 240z's and have decided thats the platform I wanted to tinker with. I am wanting to swap a sr20 in it and fab my own mounts. They dont look too complicated and I think it will be a fun project.

They come in around 2100 pounds with the sr20 swap. Also the engine sits behind the cross member basically making it a mid engine car.

Do any of you guys have any experience with these things? Google some images of them. They look sick with the right wheels and offsets. Plus the sr bottom end is good for 350 easy.

Hardest part about a 240z is finding one that not the body or worse the unibody rusted away.
Good luck hopefully where live it may not be as bad as a snowbelt '70 jap. car.

A friend of mine has a 240 with a SR. If I got another Z I'd just toss a turbo L28ET from a 280ZX. Their cheap and already come with a t3 manifoldIt bolts right in and can make some mean torque. Not to mention no matter what, the straight six sounds like sex. Hell Throw a RB25DET as they pretty much bolt right up. ---- if I'd throw a SR into it. Hell toss SBC into it and you won't have to worry about changing it over to FI. Not to mention it'll still sit behind the front axle like the SR would of or any other four cylinder. If I ever get another Z I'll just do a SBC swap and go from there. Check out HybridZ.org as the people there have swap any and everything into S30's. I've been a member there about as long as I've been a member here.

SR20 are the most overrated engine ever.

Old school Z cars scream for V8 swaps, give then what they want.

Yea I know sr's are overrated. But once again, FREE SR20. I will go to that site. Thanks.

I'd take that free SR, sell it and buy an LT1 swap or just build up a nice small block. The SR in a Z is like K swap in civic. Just gives the ooh ahh factor.

Exactly so why are dropping in a DET? This is HOMEMADEturbo. This isn't factoryturbo'd.com
