Default I'm a lurker with a 420a turbo project!

I've been watching hmt for about a year and a half now.....seeing what can be done with almost no money.....

I love the site. I love the result and i love the destructive experiments. HTM is the ----!

So far, here are some pics of my shoddy rs (soon to be rst) before i started taking the motor out getting ready for a stock rebuild and 8psi.

MOAR!

http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p...=nav_tab_album

I spun a rod bearing and i'm currently looking to do a full stock rebuild or swap in a neon block. Whichever comes first i guess.

After the rebuild, heres what i got going in:

2g dsm t25 turbo
Log mani
38mm turbonetics evo wg with screamer pipe
12:1 vortech fmu
wally 255
2.5" piping
1g dsm smic (looking to get a cheap ebay fmic soon)
bosch bov
Electronic Fuel cut defender
random boost gauge
Open downpipe (for now. Waiting on electronic cutout to use stock exhaust for the po-po)

Stay tooned. I should put down around 200hp at the wheels. Crap, but it's a start until i have a forged shortblock. There is a strong possibility that i may build up a 2.4 stratus block with my head and srt4 rods and pistons. I don't know yet since i have a baby on the way but i'll try to do something out of the ordinary and on the cheap.

Thanks for having me.

Brandon

Oops. I'm not going to bother to fix that.

On a side note, i'm a third hand owner of the car. It was abused, neglected....got knows what else. I didn't bother to bust out the black light. The clear was fading, dents everwhere, cracks in the front bumper, major curb rash on the stock 14's, it's been bottomed out hard (before i had it and dropped it) and evidence of this is on the frame rails and the hard lines going back to the brakes/gas tank/oem fpr........

I'm almost at the point i've been wanting to be at since i bought the car.

A camber kit, new set of rear tires and a brake upgrade (gsx front calipers and slotted rottors, oem gs rear rotors and calipers, hawk pads) is in order after i get this ---- done. I'm getting a bunch of rattle cans filled with glorious black primmer for my b-day. I love flat black.

Good luck man. My brother-in-law has a 98 GSX, and that thing is always falling apart. If its not a new motor, its a new transmission, or brakes, or interior parts, or suspention parts. I will say that its QUICK, but for the money he has into it he could have had somthing that was FAST!

My advise would be to find another motor and sell it. I just got rid of mine about 8 months ago. Even better just do something wild and throw a built B18 in it lol

Honestly, i've always liked the 2g dsms since they came out in 95..... I saw a teal talon parked at the end of my old neighboorhood and though that ---- was awesome, especially how it said "talon" in the back.

I was brought up on v-8's so that was the first 4 banger i saw that i liked.

I'm sure when it comes time for me to quit putting money into it, i'll jump into a d-series project since parts are so readily available, all i'd have to do is throw a rock in any direction and go that way to get something.

Brake swaps, engine swaps, cheap forged internals, cheap turbo manifolds, cheap engine management.....

Trust me, this project isn't for keeps now that i know having a dsm is a pain in the ***..... I will get it boosted though and finish up a few odds and ends and then she's getting sold in favor of a nissan/honda.

Don't waste your time boosting it. You will probably sell it better if you leave/make it OEM as possible. I know I would pay a little more for a complete OEM car than one that has been fucked with.

dunno if nissan is a much better choice, they're quite the clusterfuck.

At least rwd and 6 cylinders is an option though

I just went from a '97 Eclipse RS to a '91 Civic DX. I loved the Eclipse to death but I must say i'm happier with the Civic. I gathered a bunch of parts to turbo my Eclipse, I had a 13g turbo off a stock automatic 1st gen DSM, 1st gen BOV, 2nd gen SMIC, and a couple other small odds and ends. To say the least I gave up on it when I found out even on 7psi on stock internals these cars were only running mid to low 15's at best, not to mention with over 100,000 miles on the motor it wouldn't have lasted more than a few months even driving it easy. The 420a is a good reliable motor, and they can make real good numbers built and turbo'd, but I had to have something daily driveable. It is extremely easy to turbo though, I know a lot of people that just used a 12:1 FMU and and 255lph fuel pump for fuel management and had good results.
