Personally, I do think it was horrible, but I know for some it IS that "wow, travel, new experience" that you've heard it was.
I think the best job you could have is in "ejection seat specialist". It's not a joke, it's a real feild.
The bottome line is you will be owned. Some people find this hard to accept, and some don't even notice.

ITS SO TRUE THOUGH!! i went to a tech school for a year and half in the navy, it was suppose to be an advanced electronics computer systems course i was taking, ya advanced my ***. the system was called navmacs(v7)and it was develped in the 70's. that sure did me a lot of good out here. the dam thing receives messages in binary code, binary dam it!!thats really advanced ----, so advanced it cant even print with letters. the circuit boards are the size of clipboards and only hold 8mb of data. if thats what the navy calls advance id hate to know what they call outdated. and your only going to a 4month school. think about that. really im not trying to put u down either just be aware like steve said

i was in the navy for 4 years and all i can say is that the first year and a half blow *** because you do all kinds of bullshit work and get paid dick. oh and the recruiters are the biggest pieces of ---- in the world, all they care about is making quota. they will say anything and promise everything to get you to join. most of them try and find out what your interested in and go with that.

look, if you wanna go to the military to get edcuation money, go to the national guard. (the pay is totally different, and the places you deploy to is also totally different, because you are paid by the state, not the govt)
if you wana go to the military and serve your country out of country join the air-force, army, navy, Marines in that order. the air-force has it the easiest, the Marines have it the hardest. I can really lay it out for you if you really want me to.
not many people join the military with the mid-set of going to war, wanting to go to war, and shoot ragheads. (i think its obvious with breaker, (or whoever started this thread) I didnt ever im my craziest dreams think i would ever shoot at someone in the time of war. I thought I would go, maybe get in a few scary situations, but not a dam full out war. its simple now. if you join the military:
1. Be ready to go to the desert for a long period of time, and its nothing like AZ, or Nevada....
2. Be ready to be shot at, and return fire.
3. Be ready to say your last words because you may say them.
I am a Marine. If anyone wants to talk to me about the military, call me.

they almost got me to sign up in the marines, bitch I would be dead right now.... My mom told me how the military really work and how the fucked up her dad. Believe me her dad is fucked up. So I had a change of heart.... boy that would have been a mistake.

i stayed the night on a marines base in yuma... damn those are some crazy *******. This one guy was walking a around with a milk gallon filled with beer and another guy was lighting his pants on fire, all they did was laugh. then some big ****** jumped from the 3rd story down into the courtyard for a beer and he then climbed the rain gutter back up
