I've never hit a curb that hard but I once made the mistake of taking my CRX down a logging road and I hit a rock hard enough to knock the alignment off a little bit so I imagine that a curb could do the same thing.

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

Yes your alignment could have been knocked off. Hopefully you didn't bend any steering/suspension parts.

If it pulls it can be:
1 a tire (preshure or radial tire pull)
2 caster problem
3 camber problem
2&3 are non adjustable (I am asuming its your civic) only toe, but toe wont make it pull just ware tires and crocked steering wheel.
If its 1 of your civic's you would be suprized how easy it is to bend the uni body :-\

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

toe will make it pull man. check the toe in your drive way then.

Toe cant make it pull ::)

Spenser 01-02-2005 08:02 PM

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

it can man, espicially if its out by alot. I know it can make it pull cause before my car pulled really bad, then I aligned it, and it pretty much went completely straight after that. :P

con 01-02-2005 08:06 PM

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

I might agree that it will drive funny but it cant make a pull because if you toe is out buy say an inch, when you are going strait both side will be out 1/2 inch, equal #'s =no pull. You would need the toe to be different from side to side to pull which is imposable or you wouldn't be going strait. aLIGHTNMENTS ARE PART OFF WHAT i DO FOR A LIVING 8) Fukin cap lock ----

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

if you have two tires, and they are out of alignment(toe) and one hits gravel, or the solide yellow line, or water is is slightly balled or has bad caster or camber compared to the other one, it will pull. the two tires want to go straight, so as soon as one tire has less traction then the other, the other tire will go straight, pulling the car to one side. its really fucked up but probly the reason why you do alignements for a living is cause you are ------- RETARDED. hmmm, i love caps too. ;)

Re:if you hit a curb does your alignment go off?

The alignment on my truck is perfect and the tires wear perfect, but it pulls to the right. The passenger side tire is 1/4" further back then the driver side tire.

drive on gravel in calgary with one tire alot? I said PART of what I do are alighnments, caster and camber mostly caster problem give you a constant "pull" 1 way. Toe will not give you a constant pull. It can cause wondering which is what you are refering to.

And to simply answer your question Scottsi. You could definitely have knocked your car out of alignment. Hell, my sister bent her subframe from hitting a curb going like 10 mph.

if you're having some problems with pulling to one side, I would recommend trying to get a group rate with yayopwrcrx. he's having some alignment issues as well.

the only adjustable part of the aligment on a civic is the Toe. its very simple to do. :)

I know the toe is very easy to adjust, but I wouldn't recommend trying to adjust it in your garage. You really have no way of knowing what setting you are really at.

If you know what you're doing it can be done very accurately, but obviously not as accurate as a computer.

I've seen people align vehicles in the street and come out perfect. I have a friend that works at a tire shop and he can eye ball a front end perfect.

how do you think they did alignments 40 years agobefore computers or lazors or any other of the gay ---- they use now in shops. the only thing those things aide in is getting the job done faster. I've done the toe in my garage and then took it in and it was perfect. Bisi runs 9 seconds all motor and he sets his toe the same way I do. ;)

Wouldn't you need to at least take some measurements or count threads on the tie rods? Say you wanted to set your total toe to 16 mins in the front. How would you do that? I think you could probably get your toe set good enough to not chew up the edges of the tires or maybe straighten the steering wheel a bit but I don't know how you or anyone else could get it perfect just from eyeballing it. I think that scottsi should get his alignment checked on a machine so he could pinpoint any possible damage instead of just ------- with the toe in his driveway. And guys I'm not tryin to start an argument. He hit a curb and could have a camber problem that he would never know unless he saw an obviously bent control arm or something. :)

if hes got a cambe problem thats affecting that, I'll eat my canadian hat. you obviously lack the mental capacity to figure out how to set toe in your drive way. :-\

Thats nice -------! What the ---- are you insulting me for? Just answer my question. You are telling me that just by looking at your car you can just turn you tie rod and get your toe set to exactly what you want. You should start your own alignment business. Spenser = Alignment God
