Uncapping is useless. There hasn't been major cable, or DSL company in many years who's servers will not instantly red-flag your account as soon as it talks to the modem.

Not to be a know it all, but I use to do high level support for that stuff for a living.

No, car engines do not work. Things like reversion/scavenging keep an engine comparison from ever working.

As for your opinions on wireless has plenty of bandwidth and that is not why wireless is slower than wired, then what is the reason? If you don't believe wireless is slower than wired, then please prove it. I promise your results will prove my theory more right than yours.

Latency will obviously increase, due to being wireless. If you have encryption, the overhead will increase on your packets causing a slight loss in speed.

Other than that, if you have a good signal, good adapters/routers, and are on a channel that isn't being used by someone else, there won't be a noticeable speed difference.

It'll be slightly slower, but not enough to complain about.

I'll do some tests tomorrow.

I use a lynksys router hacked with DD-WRT and I have it tweaked pretty solid. I get the SAME speeds on my hardline as I do wireless. Its all about having it setup right.

Yes, and the dd-wrt firmware is considerably better than the oem linksys ones.

I've never had problems getting the same speeds through wireless as wired. Of course, both speeds fluctuate with every test, but they're both in the same margin.
