idea for cheap homemade air-water intercooler
what if I took a junkyard intercooler like a probe or DSM or something and got a big plastic container about an inch bigger than the IC all around, cut some holes in the side for the charge pipes, sealed it all up good with urethane and ran my water lines into the plastic container and everything...
Actually, I know this would work.

my idea is better, get a dsm intercooler, cover seal it up, except on the sides where normally air would pass through, put some fabric (like a wetsuit type deal) that will let air through but keep water in. then mount it where air will be hitting it, and still keep the tank and water pumps

If you're in a race only application, you can empty the wiper fluid container, then run some hoses to the intercooler with a few mist nozzles that spray onto the intercooler. Fill the wiper fluid reservoir with cold water and whenever you turn on the wiper fluid you have a nice water to air intercooler sprayer.

The water spraying on the intercooler is feasable though; a buddy of mine did it on his stock 1G Talon Tsi side mounted intercooler but he did it with the rear wiper. I'll ask him sometime this week how he did it.
