Yah, I've been alternately flaming and talking to you for a couple years now (did you ever ship that transmission??) but I dunno who that guy is. 3597 posts of mediocrity, I guess. :3

Re: i want some great dane puppys

it wasent that i dident want to ship it, it just that the weight of the block and transmission i couldent get ups to take it, and by time i would get back from work i couldent find any frate compines to send it for reasonable. i issued a full refund AND offered the kid the block and tranny for FREE at the next honda-tech meet (cT) he dident get back to me until 11am that day, i was already at the meet and left the stuff at home cuz i dident her from him. i still have the block and tranny, lol i dissasembled them and put them in storage.

so no, i still havent shipped that tranny!

very true.. my buddy had a pure bread. awesome dog. what happens is that there bodies are to big for there legs, so when they start getting older they have leg problems. so basicly they cant walk or walk well, they had to put there dog down cause of that reason :(

what i think he means is that they are no very obediant, which is true with my dog. it does whatever it wants all the time and it knows its big and will just push you out of the way.

Exactly. They can be very scary dogs if they are not trained right. I have one in a class now that will lunge at anyone who comes near his owner....and she only weighs about 135. She can hold him but barley......get my point?

Re: i want some great dane puppys

Great Danes are awesome dogs but if you buy one make sure you go through a reputable breeder that has been in the buisness for a long time and will offer you a full health guarantee. They have some health issues like hip displasea and something where there stomach gets twisted and they start coughing up foam and die within a few hours if you don't take them to a vet, i forgot what its called. also since they are so big and have long legs you have to be carefull with them, i have heard of them getting broken legs just playing rough in the back yard, and then theres the training.

but all in all they are my favorite breed, just don't let the breeder ---- you on the contract, they should have a grace period where after you get the dog you can have them checked out by a vet and if they have any issues you can take the dog back for a refund or anouther dog, otherwise you might get stuck with a 2000 dollar dog that will always be sick and not live very long, and cost way more money.

$7000 for 2 dogs?? :l

I have a doggy door in my slider for my dogs to go out and ----. It's like 12" wide and 18" tall. How the ---- do you allow a dog that's bigger than you to go out and ---- on it's own? Or do you have to let it out like 6 times a day and hope it doesn't flood the house or take a shi-tzu sized ---- while you're gone. ???

I did that with my dog when he was a puppy, but I just can't see doing that their entire life. :3 Might as well give the dog to someone who has the time to stay at home and take care of it. :-\

we have a pure bred great dane. she's probably one of the smartest dogs i have ever seen and the funniest personality. but i agree, they have lots of health issues especially when they get older. ours is about 6ish and you can hear her joints clicking sometimes when she walks. shes also allergic to chicken/protein.

oh and ours was $1400, show quality breed. $3500 would be a rip off. i can get you the names/numbers of some legit local breeders when youre ready to buy one.

Yea alot of people think that keeping a dog in a cage all day is cruel but its not at all, dogs are den animals (all canids such as wolves, foxes, etc utilize dens to rear their young and as a shelter from weather) so when you cage train a dog you are basically giving it a safe place to rest while you are away. this is especially good if you have a dog that is really hyperactive because they won't spend all day running around barking/tearing up ---- or whatever, plus you don't have to worry about them while you are away.

I made a mistake with my boxer puppy and left him alone with my other dog while i ran to the gas station, was gone 10 minutes, came back and puppy was limping with a dislocated shoulder thanks to my other dog, so i sort of learned the hard way.

Crate training is always a good idea but I agree with Dr Boost big dogs like Danes shouldnt be kept in a crate all day. They're are places where you can take them to spend a day...like PetSmart. Most stores have doggie day care now. I know it sounds funny but its a blast to work in and they play all day long. Its good for the owners that have stuff to do and cant take the dog with them all the time.

I can't see how buying a dog and throwing him in a cage for 60% of the day could be justified. :-\ Dogs need to run around and play and move around. They need regular exercise and throwing them in a cage for most of the day isn't going to help. :-\

As soon as my dog was old enough to figure out eating couches is a bad thing, I stopped making him sleep in the cage. He hardly ever chews ---- up anymore and if he does it's only garbage anyways.

In other words, MOST dogs need a fenced in yard...

Well, not just that. It gets to be 120-130* out here. I can't see leaving a dog outside all day in this heat to die all summer. It gets to be ~0* other places and I can't see leaving your dog out there to freeze all winter. Yeah, you can give them blankets and shade or whatever, but still. Imagine your ass being stuck outside all day everyday during weather like that. :l

Re: i want some great dane puppys

yea it depends on the dog and where you live, like i leave my dogs in their cages when i am at work because i tried leaving them out for while and that ---- stopped real quick when i came home to couch cushions ripped apart in the middle of the floor and the trashcan toppled over with crap strewn all over the living room, etc. not to mention the turds.... anyway, they don't sleep in there at night and get plenty of excercise after i get home, in fact i have to spend a few hours outside a day with them or they don't ever want to calm down, lol.

but then again they are both still puppies.

SQ is the SQUAD 12-22-2007 11:46 PM

Re: i want some great dane puppys

my house has a huge yard, but the sucky part is i would have to get a taller fence. the summers here aren to bad to leave them out side, and durn the winter i can biuild a nice sized area donw in my basement that ican put them if i have to leave them "home alone". the basement dosent get too cold during the winter.
