So i went to BMP(the dragstrip) in my area last night and observed the following:
The car:92-95 prelude h22a "built"
The driver:16 year old kid with a pregnant 13 year old looking gf
The setup:
Xs-power manifold and turbo
Xs-power wastegate(which he hacksawed at the track to run less boost)
2 inch intercooler piping with small front mount
no fuel management
the downpipe flange is bolted to the turbo with no downpipe made
Power pole meter box is zip tied to the radiator support to deflect the exhaust from the engine
engine has black soot mod
oil feed line is 5/16 radiator hose
alternator is smoking when he arrives(melted from the no downpipe mod)
engine fan is hard wired directly to the battery with speaker wire
battery is hanging in the engine bay with battery cables as only means of holding it there

The pass:
His driver side slick is flat and he tries inflating it with a portable compressor with no luck
car wont start since his battery is dead from the coolant fan mod and dead alternator
He asks us for jumper cables and we offer 10 gauge power wire to wire up his fan better
He accepts the wire and takes the ecu cover off his ecu and bents it to form a shield for the alternator not to get further burned and uses the wire to tie it in place.His car gets jumped,starts,then the alternator locks up tearing apart the serp belt ending his night.His car for the 10 seconds it came alive produced more smoke than the jet powered dragster ive seen out there.I have not laughed that hard at the track EVER.He parked next us so we saw the whole thing happen.I wish i had a camera and posted pictures of his masterpiece xs power sponsored car.

i'll assume he didn't make it to the inspection... if he did and passed i wouldn't be going to that drag strip again.

Its a test and tune.If you car doesnt leak fluids and the seat belt works you can run.

They can be tight at our track sometimes, but yeah wow. You tried to help and he uses the wire to tie his bent ECU cover up, hahaha. Wow. The thing that bothers me the absolute MOST about the whole situation is the hard life having a kid at 16 and 13 (which is unreal to me) and yet he still finds priority in building a turbo kit that will blow his motor and not allow him to even go get diapers. Sad.

That car sounds HMT to the max. I would of been..dude your a-okay in my book. Kinda like that VC in Apocalypse Now that has his guts spewwing out and is just holding them in so they won't just fall out and Richard Dryfus offers him his canteen and says "Any man brave enough to fight with his guts strapped to him can drink from my canteen any day".

Some of the ---- is true HMT roots type ----, some is just stupid. And he obviously has no patients going to the track 1/4 finished.... 1/2 or 3/4 is much better :1
