Re: I sold my Civic!
I love selling things as is. You can tell someone that your car runs perfect and has never given you any problems. Sold as is. (It really had a blown headgasket, no radiator, and fried ringlands on every piston)
I don't do it to that extent, nor have I scammed anybody like that, but if it can cover someone who does that, it makes me feel safe as a seller

Re: I sold my Civic!
ur not legally obligated to do ----..
but morally.. on the otherhand..
but this ofcourse depends on how much you sold the car for..
if he got it for a jew price id be like **** off, but if you sold it for double what it was worth, i would feel like ----
i sold my s10 with a leaking tranny fluid line and i made damn well ------- sure i implanted it in the buyers ------- brain not to go over 40mph not to floor the ---- out of it not to drive more than 5 miles at a time before stopping to check fluid levels, made sure to tell em to have the ****** fixed a.s.a.p and even after he left my house i called him up and made sure that he stopped the car and checked the fluid
he got it fixed at his mechanic and just like i told em the car runs like a champ he took it down to kentucky and back up to michigan 3 trips.. then went from kentucky to georgia, then on to florida, then back up to michigan
he wanted to give me more money.. because he told me the truck was worth alot more then he bought it for, i denied.. lol
i have to admit tho.. if his tranny blew on him even if it was his failt i prolly would have pussied out and refunded him half the money

This is copy and pasted from when I sold my Red turbo EK to my neighbor.

Re: I sold my Civic!
Like the others said, you aren't legally responsible for crap, and it was pretty damn nice of you to pay for the tow.
I would find out a more accurate idea of the distance and time so you could get an accurate idea of how fast he was going, and I'd tell the kid. Sounds to me like he was excited about his new toy, ran the ---- out of it knowing that it had a problem, and blew it up.
His fault, he probably learned a lesson.

Re: I sold my Civic!
I got a couple hundred less than what KBB tells me a car in my condition is worth...$400 less in fact.
He even came over before and said the ticking "wasnt as bad as [he] thought"
today I started the car to make sure all was good, idled perfect. still had that God-awful noise but that wasnt until 3k or so, but it idled smooth. He came to pick up the car and I checked the fluids and ---- just to make sure everything was good.
At one point he said (after I went to go see him after the car broke down) "Dan I want the car but I don't want the car like this." ... My mom is trying to push me into giving him a couple hundred back... I volunteered to go to the junkyard and find him a good running engine, have it pulled and take it to the mechanic to throw in... not with my money though. But I figured it'd save him some dough.
