First off, yes, i agree street racing is dumb, but i havent been able to get to the track yet and just wanted to test out my new setup. So I was at the local meetup, talkin to a few friends. Got bored and wanted to see if an Evo would run me for fun. He wanted to race for money, and i was broke so i said no. Cobra offered to run for fun, so we did. He asked if i wanted spots and i said no, i just wanted to see how the car keeps up, and everyone looked at me like i was stupid. At this point I had forgotten that Cobra's came supercharged. I just thought "Cobra, thats the fast one" (hammer) . So we run heads up, he said he didnt get on it too hard off the line because of wheel hop, but i also didnt rip on it off the line because I just opened my cut-out for the first time and wasnt used to the new low end power. Anywho, i beat him by a few cars, everyone got excited, and i didnt really think anything of it until they reminded me it was SC'd, then i felt pretty good. Anyone know what they run stock/ few bolt ons? Edit, says they run 12.9's stock, so the guy prob couldnt drive too well, but that 12.9 is also with a Great driver. Enjoy, or flame away. It was funny because we didnt think about the cobra being supercharged and NO ONE expected the "Jap Crap" to win (including us !!!)


TO 90dx : the Cobra was not completely stock but it wasnt heavily moded either. The owner said it had exhaust upgrades and intake upgrades. He told Brandon (89SiPimpin) that he should definately have no problems taking stock Cobras.

Thanks. He said it had some kinda intake SLP or somethin, exhaust, and headers. I gotta get to the dyno or track and see how the car does. I planning on building a block, so i tihnk i'm gonna max out this stock motor and see what it can handle before it blows.

was he going to pass you on the top end?

pretty sweet, my car was way slower than that, you got a better turbo and more boost.

My car probably drowned out alot of it, open downpipe and external wg scream at high rpms. If we would have had more room to run, I would have just pulled on him harder lol. The car pulls pretty hard up top. I def dont think his car was driven to its full potential, I know he tried, but for car that should be 12's stock, i dont think it was there.

I only wrote that because I posted on HT first, and they like to here stuff like that over there so they feel like men.

Coming back from the track one night a sc cobra started ------- with us. We tore him a new ass on 14 pounds, and when it spiked to 20 we had to pull over and wait for him to catch up. And it only went 14.1 at the track

Good kill. Yes those cars have the capabilites to go 12.80's with good driver and 60 foot, but regardless, if anyone mods those things- watch out. My buddy threw on a bassani x pipe/exhaust, pulley, and intake and is making 450whp. People are spotting over 500 with just the stock eaton ported. Kenny Bell or Whipple.... watttttttchhh the ---- out :l

Johnny, mags test them at BEST a 12.80 whcih was from motor trend in 2003. Its been low 13's from any mag every time after that. I do think however, mustangs and fast fords has a 12.xx pass in a stock one as well. Expect 13.10-13.30's from a decent driver on the street in stock form. That irs really kills them out of the hole.

Im not hating on your car in any way. Its mighty fast for what it is. But the street and the track are 2 diff worlds.

This is true, but I know for a fact I'm a better driver at the track. I cant launch the car as hard on the street cus it eats the tires through 1st and 2nd. I'll get back to the track soon, gotta get my windshield replaced first to pass tech, got a couple cracks. 1st and only time i went in this car, i had a log mani and the ghetto volvo front mount, got 4 passes, best 2 were 14.4@ 101 on 7psi, then 14.4@ 92 on 12psi, on the last run i shut down 3/4's of the way down because i blew an endtank off the IC. New mani and new IC i'm expectiong low 13's

yeah a lot of guys convert the cobras over to a straight axle to eliminate the wheel hop associated with the IRS

Yea they kept talkin about that, it was a few cobras there. He was the least modified one that i raced. But they kept raving about how bad of wheel hop they get. And em and the other Honda kinda laughed cus our cars are notorious for wheel hop as well, although i filled my mounts so i dont really have the problem.

I'm sure its a decent kill. I rip those things up in my EG. IMO they are pretty damn slow for what they are supposed to be. Either you have some sticky tires or not making much power. Sounded like you have damn good traction. I say this because in the vid 2nd gear up sounded full throttle to me with no wheel spin. No way in hell can I do that :(

stock 03/04 cobras run 8.1-8.3 @ 85-87 stock on stock rubber with 2.0 60 foots

I have no idea how much power i make low 200's probably. But I babied it through 2nd so as not to shread the tires. Pretty much let it fall out of boost from 1st, and eased into 2nd, then from there its ok. I'm on 205-50-15 Falken Zeix ZE 512's, they're pretty decent.

I'm workin on that, but i wont be tuning this motor. Rings are going and with the money i would spend getting tuned or tuning equipment, i can build another block then tune that one. Just got some JE 9.1:1 pistons, gotta find some rods now, anyone got any?
