i need a better bank

I got $1115.30 in tax refund money this year, but instead of waiting for the check, or getting a tax anticipation loan, i gave the check to my moms, and she gave me the money. She gave me a check from her account and i went directly to my bank (first national bank of texas) and deposited it. They told me there would be a small hold on the money. So i told the lady to cash $200 of it and deposit the rest. Here it is, 6 days later, and my money still isn't there. I talked to my mom the other day, and the check cleared her bank on the 22nd, now the 25th and still no money. I have a flat tire on my car right now, so i can't take that to work. I could take my girls car, but its 40 miles TO work (not to mention coming home) and she has no gas in it at all. And whats worse is i have 3 dollars in my wallet, and 4 kools left. I have all kinds of money coming like my paycheck in 4 days ($2250) and this income check ($1115.30) and i can't touch a ------- penny. No food in the house, flat tire, running out of smokes, and now i have to call into work cuz i can't even ------- make it there. So im tired of getting fucked by my bank. I need something different, and quick. So if you are happy with your bank, let me know. I need a debit card at least, and if they have that new thing where you use your debit card and they take the change and put it in your savings that would be awesome. And no fees for going below $00.00 in your account. My bank is $33 per charge. I was already considering wamu, but the nearest one is like 45 miles away so thats a no go. Help me out here guys.

I am confused as to why you did not take the just cash/deposit the anticipation loan check instead of giving it to your mom?

Seriously. You pay money to get your money. Can't you just wait? :-\

I think you need to take a look at your spending habits to figure out why you can't seem to live on the budget you have. You're living paycheck to paycheck and it seems like you make a decent amount of money so there should be no reason. Does your GF help out? Do you live together? Where is her cash?

My bank fucks people like you over. If you go negative it's going to cost you more arms and legs than you have. I learned that if I keep money in my account, they don't ---- me. :6

Yeah i know, i have 2 credit cards that are way way over due, but only owe like 1500 total to them. My girl lives with me, but she is leaving in like a week to go to her moms in alabama for almost a month, and there is no point looking for a job right now. I do make pretty decent money, about $25,000 a year before taxes. I live with my dad, and really don't have many bills so i know my spending habits are pretty bad. I need to get my ---- in order quick. But as to the loan, they suck. I would rather have my mom give it to me for free than pay someone to do the same thing.

Talk to the manager. They DO have disrcretion over bank holds... take a printout of your mom's account showing the check clearing and TALK TO THE MANAGER of your local branch.

Re: i need a better bank

i ------- hate banks. I overdrew my account without knowing it because a check hadn't cleared yet, and the charged me 3 overdraft fees at $37 a pop. So I called to see if I could have at least two of them dropped seeing as one was for like a dollar and the other maybe $4, but they said they could only drop one. Then, when I bitched at her about how ------- retarded it is to charge people for overdrafting and that the card shouldn't even let you overdraft, she told me that she could make it so my card wouldn't ever overdraft, the card just wouldn't work if there wasn't enough money in the account. WTF???? That should have been set up in the first place. ---- banks, they want your money just as much as anyone else does.

How long would it take you to get that money in your hand right now if you needed it? :8

Weekend, so Monday/Tuesday? That's just savings. I like to keep enough cash around the house to be able to deal with something catastrophic in an emergency, so enough to cover my car or to at least pick up a $300 beater if need arises. Figure its a 50/50 split between the stock market and liquid cash. Think that is a pretty safe bet in times like these. By the way, a while ago I posted gas was gonna drop because of a bunch of international market ----, and guess what, then I was paying $3.02 for regular, now I pay $2.67 :)

if you have a check on hold where the deposited check hasn't cleared and you make purchases after and they are "overdrafted" they should waive the fees being that they are the ones who put the money on hold whereas if they didn't the funds would have been available. some banks have this as bank policy, next time I would have the phone teller call her supervisor or go straight to the branch and talk to the man/woman in charge.

banks do suck. I have wells fargo and wamu. i like them both, but wells fargo is a money grubbing machine.

well $25k a year is pretty good around here aspecially for a 22 year old. this is my first real job outside of the food industry and im loving it. and thats just base pay, lots of pay raises about once a year for the next 8 years. plus full medical, dental, eye care and all those benifits. and paid vacation/ sick time. plus its actully a pretty damn cool job. only problem is im 6 foot 180 pounds blonde hair blue eyes and im not an ugly dude so im always being stared at. i cant even scratch my nuts in private without some girl watching me like a hawk.

My wife works at our bank. No fees for anything. We've got an overdraft line of credit for up to 2,000 bucks. It's a nice setup :)

Online bill pay is where it's at. Also, if any of you are behind on payments that get reported to credit companies- GET IT FIXED! bad credit will make your life terrible quicker than you can say, "I can't buy anything worth a damn anymore."

Some of you 19yo retards will chime in and say, "that's why I pay cash for everything." Shut up dumbass, that's not the way the world works. Credit is EVERYTHING.

wells fargo and citibank are good for small BS loans if you're in a hurry and don't have access to a credit union.

all banks are ------- bullshit. im telling you guys on here... join a ------- credit union. they'll ALWAYS give you the best rates on personal/car/home loans, they're ALWAYS easier to deal with and they will give you loans that any other bank or finance institution will laugh at you for.
