I hate thieves.
 

So I go to work today at the local hospital where we are remodeling a room.. And I get in my truck to get my Bosch company battery charger and drill. And i'll be goddamned if they're GONE. Someone took all of my Bosch company tools, and then I go around the truck to the other side of the utlity bed and they also took 2 paslode nailguns (350+ each). I'm ------ pissed I had to tell my boss why I didn't lock the utility bed up the other day work. It's such a small town nobody ever steals anything and then all of a sudden they just take like 2k worth of ----.. They also took a belt sander, and an electric Bosch metal cutter. Everything has company numbers on it w/ permanent marker and its all engraved WCA on them. I had the cops out there and everything this morning, the boss was so pissed. I'm gonna keep my eyes on ebay int he next couple of weeks and see if anything pops up.

The company has insurance for ---- that happens like this. The boss was pissed but he didn't like threaten my job or anything. I've worked for him for 3 years now and he can trust me around his home, doing work there when he's gone or around any of his equipment.

why? I guess the company should hire someone to sit and watch the truck at all times so nothing gets stolen ::) We would have to give all of our employees a key to each of the 6 utility bed boxes and each time they get a tool relock the box. It would be so inconvenient and would take up too much time hunting for the right key to the certain box. Anyone who has worked construction knows what I mean.. This is kind of a freak thing that could happen to any trades business, especially in a bigger city. I'm sure it's a common thing it just sucks nut because it's my responsibility. I should tell the boss to keep the truck and that i'm not ready for this responsibility.

regradless, should have lock them up if there are 2 grand worth of tools, its like leaving twenty $100 bill in the box, why wouldn't ya.

i lock my ---- in my box when i go to home depot lowes and what not but when im on the job i leave it open. i have 2500+ in my truck. now i own all of it so its my loss, but it is to much of a paine to lock unlock lock unlock everytime you need something.

over a period of 3 years the time unlocking and locking will = 2000.

now when im near a questional job, mostly inner city and other shity areas ill pull all the ---- out and keep it near me on the job because iv been places where you tools dont disaper but your truck dose.

eh, but you will lose business because you take too long to complete jobs, and youll pay employees to be wasting time which adds up over time. at the job i just quit we leave the trucks unlocked, keys in the ignition with a couple grand worth of ---- in them, it would waste probably an hour each day if we locked them after getting each tool

I just got off the phone with the head of maintenance over at the hospital. He said that there are 3 cameras that scan the parking lot ;D and I guess tomorrow we are going to check them out. I cant wait. I hope the culprit is someone that works with us. Haha imagine the look on that fuckers face when my boss tells him he has no job. It honestly is probably soemone we least expect. Maybe a past employee that got pissed with the company

It was insured, so I wouldn't fire you unless you sucked and I needed an excuse. You're obvious a good worker, and if worst case comes to pass (tools aren't returned) then they are replaced under insurance. But. I'd still sit your sweet ass down and tell you it's your only warning not to do something stupid like that again.

Keep your tool key on a retractable reel on your belt. I know a couple bartenders who use them for bottle openers, or keys to liquor cabinets. It's nothing to reach down for 1-2 keys, unlock, and then drop and let the reel snap them back. Zero time, dude.

were not talking about locking it when your on site but at the end of the day you lock the truck, if they were your own tools you would have made dam sure it was secure.

^^^^^ that is when it got stolen on the job. that is when its a pain in the ass. when i leave and go home i lock my box like i like my truck, house. but on the job is a pain in the ass

I do lock the truck at the end of the day.. they were stolen on the job because I work inside the hospital genius

well if your far enough from the truck that it way out of your site and your in a building and you didn't lock it I dont think you have grounds to call me a genius. Any person with enough brains to not ---- on the floor should be able to figger out that the truck should be locked ::)

They make these magentic locks where all you have to do is swipe your sensor thingy across it and it unlocks, cost a bit but in the end its worth every penny.

I hope they catch those fuckers on the camera and get punished by every extent of the law. Thats ------ ------ ----!!

shut up man you have no idea how a trades business runs. when there are like 8 carpenters taking and bringing back power tools, hand tools, chords.. or even if we need a simple drill bit.. these are things i'm talking about. Constantly throughout the day the utility bed is being used. Parking is also an issue there because patients are first so we have to park in the back of the parking lot. Time is money and for everyone to have to pass around different keys to different boxes of the truck is a cluster ---- and nothing at the job site would get done at our rate of speed. We are no jo blow construction business. We build high end commercial construction projects. One good thing about what happend is those tools were getting wore out and they needed replaced with all new. So insurance will take care of us ;)
