Yeah, it's about ------- time. I finally found myself a shitbox to boost the hell out of. I still had to drive out of town, but it wasn't far. It was listed in the white sheet for $1250 and I went up there to offer him $1000, but by the time I got there he had "1000" written on the windshield. ;D This guy has the worst social skills I have ever experienced and it doesn't help that he doesn't speak english. ::) I don't know how this guy sells cars, but whatever.

I have a few questions also.

When you buy a car from a dealer with cash, do you have to pay tax on top of the asking price or is it just the asking price? I have never paid cash for a car at a dealership so I don't know how that works. This guy is sketchy as hell and I don't trust him. I don't think he is a legal citizen of the United States.

Don't they have to have tires with at least 50% tread on them? These fuckers are bald as hell and I'm not sure if highway driving is safe with them. :-\

they can sell the car 'as is' with bald ass tires. If you pay in cash you still have to pay the tax and ----. If he's shady he could list that he only sold the car for $100 and keep the extra

Who do I pay the tax to, the DMV or him? For example, the car is sold for $1000+tax to him so I have to give him $1000+tax or do I just give him $1000 and that's it? I would pay the tax at the DMV? ???

Be careful when you buy the car. Make sure you get reciepts for the tax. When I bought my car in Florida they tried to charge me twice :o!! I even had the reciepts. Those people at the DMV.. Argh..

Good luck with the car. You might want to take off the SIR badge... you know, so people wont know what you got under the hood ;)

Yeah, see that's what I'm worried about. This guy is too damn sketchy for me. It's hard enough to understand him, let alone negotiate with him. I might have to sharpen up my sign language skills for this one. ::) I'll take some pics of the "dealership" he runs. My battery died in my cameera so I didn't get a shot of it. Are you sure it has a MPFI D15a3? If so, then someone swapped in all the Si ---- from a real Si in what appears to be a DX. Because that car is not a real Si. Pop the hood and make sure it is not carbed.

Sorry to ruin anything :-X but there are just a few things that I can try to make out why it is NOT an Si:
Si's had a spoiler, the hatch is not an Si, the rear bumper cover is not an Si, Si's had an electric sunroof, rims are not from an Si those are Dx's.

Knock his price down. That's quite steep for a non-Si.

Oh well, one more ------- thing I need to do to it before I boost it. I didn't get a good chance to check things out on it. Around here $1000 is a very reasonable price for any car. This is the first one I have found....period. :-\

The A6 you will need custom mounts.. Easiest is a BRonwtop ZC or 86-89 d16a1 and boost the ---- out of it, thats what I will be doing...

get a notarized bill of sale. you pay him $1000.

when you get it licensed, you pay the tax. see if you cant talk him into listing the sale price of the car as $100 so you dont have to pay as much tax.

dude, don't buy it for 1k imo :-\ i had a chance to buy one for 300 with a blown engine, so you figure i could pick up a nice d for around 3-400 and that would be 6-700 bucks, and it was tooo much for those ---- box crx's to me. just wait and save up another thousand and get a nice ass 88+ rex. look here for some nice rex's, most of them are in or near cali anyways http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/r...used&x=30&y=12

See, the thing is around here that is a good price. I know all of you guys could find one for so much cheaper and that's all good and fine, but you can't do that here. I have no way of towing a vehicle 300+ miles so buying one in California is out of the question. I look at that autotrader everyday trying to find one close to me, but it's not happening. :-\

Anyways, I don'tr think I'm going to buy it. I'm not down for the CARB-DPFI swap. :-X

oh, i thought you lived in cali, yeah, carb to dpfi or even mpfi is why i didn't get the one i was looking at for 300, not to mention the old body style is just plain ass :P

I wouldn't mind the DPFI-MPFI swap, but ---- a carb. That requires more than I want to contribute to a shitbox. If I still had access to my old harness in my Civic I would swap that ---- over, but yeah, it's still a shitbox. :-\ I think I have a plan now.......... ;)
