I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
I got the adapter piece of a compression tester stuck in cyl. #1 there is a hex nut on the outside of it, but the socket for that size will not fit in the spark plug tube. all there is is the female threads of the adapter to work with. any suggestions on getting it out?
BTW my compression was 185, 184, 177, 190 the standard is 184 should #1 and #4 be a problem? why would the compression be HIGHER then normal? (read the update) |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
Dude how did you get it stuck :-X wow never hear of this before, just twist as hard as you can :-\

hahaha, isn't that steve comp tester :-X

Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
I have done this b4. Im pretty sure I found a long screwdriver that jammed into it well, and slowly unscrewed it.
Good luck |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
Ok, you could apply some sort of thread locker to the threads of the hose piece of the compression tester, then screw it into the adapter piece. Wait a little bit and slowly twist it out.

carbon build up for that high CR? |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
you obviously went in more than 2 or 3 turns :)
i did the same thing 2 weeks ago, the screwdriver trick worked for me. |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
put some jb weld on the screw in part and leave it. after it dries unscrew that bitch :P

Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
yes it's always good to flush your engine every once in a while to get all that gunk off the chambers.
|
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
I was leaning toward the loc-tite route, I just wanted to ask you uys first.
also, I am running a bit rich on the top end (safety reasons on an ass dyno tuned car) that is probably what is causeing the carbon buildup. is there a way to "flush" that ---- out? or do I just live with it? |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
Yeah, it's called water. Just stick an intake line in to a cup of water.. make sure you're at WOT or something pretty high.
|
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
umm...the entire intake pipe? hydrolock???? rev it up and dump a little water at a time, down the pipe. i heard ATF works well also.
|
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck
into the intake side of my turbo? or stick a vacuum line on the intake mani into a cup of water?
|
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
the loctite thing worked, it worked so well that the male threads of the comp. tester stayed in the female threads of the adapter, only problem is, it didn't stay in the tube. now it looks like this.....
http://www.newbieforces.com/files/comptest.JPG what do i do now? am I gonna have to pull the head? |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
Heads coming off!! Depending on the head, you may be able to take the valve cover over, and then pull out the spark plug tube (some are just pressed in)... then you may be able to get it out. But honestly pulling the head isn't that bad. Just pick up some ARPs while it's off and put a y7/y8 head gasket on ($23... hondaautomotiveparts.com). As long as you have it off, you get to clean everything up and do some head work too...
Have fun |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
head needs to come off :-\
can u try to use super glue or some tough glue to glue a socket to the top and twist it out with a reatch.?? |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
Good thing I never got to use my new compression tester. >:( What the ---- do I care? :-\
When I have fucked up days, I just want to run over someones throat. >:( |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
let me help you there bambie
http://www.newbieforces.com/files/comptest.JPG did you make that up yourself? pretty good :P |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
Dude! What the ---- kind of piece of ---- comp checker is that thing? The ------- compression hose *should be* machine fit on there, and not supposed to just twist right off? Where did u buy that mother fucker cause I'll never get one of them.
But the head has to come off. Talk about some shitty luck.. you must have really torqued the ---- out of that thing for it to stick that hard. Oh and while you have the head off, you can clean off all them carbon deposits |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
it is an actron compression tester.
steve, I'll buy you a new one. I figured the head has to come off, oh well. what a ------- bitch. |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
i'm familiar with that compression checker, and I know that you must have had that adapter piece plunged in there ------- hard in order to stick it that bad.
I can repress that line for you and resurrect the bastard if you want to use it again. LOL |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
so when will u take it out

ATF works really well. Especially if you hate your entire neighborhood. I like to let my engine suck in a lot of ATF, but at a slightly fast idle so it doesn't ingest it, but instead, the ATF settles at the bottom of the plenum. Then, rev it high and let it suck in all the ATF at once. So much white smoke, it looks like I blew a head gasket. In fact, to give my car the sleeper look, I think I'll install an electronic valve to let the motor suck some in while I'm staging...."Dude, your head gasket is shot!" But yea, leaves the intake manifold and chambers real perty! -Tim |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
Did you try a sixteen point socket? I know that is a pretty obvious thing to try, but I hadda ask. I think my comp tester was from sears (cheapo), and I stuck the adapter in my D16A6, and a sixten point on an extension pulled it right out....
Good Luck! |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
well since u are pulling that head i still got that cam beatch.

Good Luck! I just now remembered that I forgot to call bamboo and get those pistons and rods from him, ----. there's no way I'm going back to pick them up within the next 6 months. |
Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
Good thing there is UPS

Re:I got the comp. tester stuck (I GOT IT MORE STUCK)
i wish i had a honda so i could take the head off in like 30 minnutes... im going on 2 days with my celica. the head has 3 hex bolts that are like 1/2 inch and the intake manifold cant be unbolted without pulling the motor.
