I fucked up, Im a dumbass, OPINION Please
Well today while sitting in the simulator sapposidly working... I was going over the build check-list in my head, while reading out and doing the weapons check-list to shoot a ship. Most of you have seen pics of it and know what is involved in it, if not, search and youl see it.
The Predicament. When i was home i took the CP pistons out of my block to grind off the sides of the intake valve reliefs on them so they didn't blow out on me. When i was done i weighed them all out on a 3 bar scale to make sure they were perfect still, and they were. I put them rods and pistons back in the block, what i just remember that i forgot to do (Stupid me) I forgot to index the rings. Now... They were already indexed when they were put in the first time before i pulled the pistons to clean them up around the edges, BUT, im not sure if i mabey spun some around or something while doing the work on the valve reliefs. So... Should i tear the engine back down and pull the rods and pistons out to make sure the rings are indexed, or is it a huge concern? Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to redo, just do it.
Nobody here can tell you if the rings rotated when you had the pistons out. I think you are trying too hard to be cool, who cares what your job is we already know ::) |

lol it will blow eventually, i don't doubt that.
Is there any quick checks i can do aside from dissasembling the engine? if not, i don't have a problem taking it all back apart, i just don't want too if i don't have too. |

Yea, the only payne in the ass, its at my parents house 250 miles south of me. So i have to get down there on the next 3 day weekend or holiday.
I do have to dissasmble most. VC off, cam caps off, cams out, head studs off,head off,oil pan off, pickup off, windage tray off, take em out and check them. I guess thats not too bad really. anyone remember proper way to index cp rings? are they the same as oem? i forget.. |

not sure but id go with stock procedure. if you have air tools it should only take an hour or two. better than pulling the engine,

its a gamble
hour to check/fix now...........weekend to check/fix later. and if your going to the extreme of smoothing valve reliefs, then you already know what you have to do. |

yeam the intake valve reliefs had a real thin spot that apparently likes to blow out on them, they came out good though, i think the 1st of october im going to go home to my parrents house and do it. spiker, il prolly stop by your neck of the woods to say whats up sense il be on my way southbound.
have to stop in tumwater too |
