I don't get it!!!
I nee help clearing something up. I was watching some gay tuner show a while ago and they installed a cold air intake on a Golf TDI. I've also read elsewhere in some magazine where other guys also got intakes with turbos. Just doesn't make sense to me, can't picture a cold air intake and turbo working together. :P

Re:I don't get it!!!
the "cold air intake" would just go from the intake on the compressor to somewhere it could get "cold" air at, seems pretty simple if u ask me

Re:I don't get it!!!
yeah, a TDI needs all the help it can get. an HF can beat a tdi

Re:I don't get it!!!
I really dont see the point of a cold air intake on a turbo when ur using a intercooler

wouldn't it be good if the TURBO itself gets cooler air? think about it. ::) |
Re:I don't get it!!!
You could add an intake so the air you start with is cooler than without. Otherwise you're sucking in warm engine bay air and not outside air. :-X

Re:I don't get it!!!
There was a discussion about this on another forum. I guess if you have nothign left to do to your car, then you can spend the time to put the CAI on there, but I personally dont think that 50 degree air vs. 120 degree air would make that much of a difference when it is going through the turbo, getting compressed, and then getting intercooled.

Re:I don't get it!!!
well it is not just about the engine, what about the turbo?
Giving the turbo cooler air can't hurt, and i would think it would somewhat be better. |
Re:I don't get it!!!
actually mase from h-t documented this and it didn't have any effect.
