Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I just got the new honda tuning magazine, July edition, and it has a how to article in it. There view point, B series doesnt exist anymore, so why not a K series? Good point. I didnt think the swap was really worth it myself.

looks like a clean swap

you havent seen the k20 crx on HT yet?

MikeJ-2009 06-12-2004 06:46 PM

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

B Series= Its hot because of everyday tuners figuring out all the different swaps that are possible.

K Series= Honda's attempt to control the next generation of tuners. Using these motors before all D and B series are gone is pretty dumb to me.

That's the only reason why a company like honda would decide that the B series wasn't popular enough to keep producing. :P Don't get all excited about K series and fall into the trap.

D series Powa!!! 8)

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

the k series is the best engine honda has made thusfar but iam poor so iam sticking with the d then getting b18b then whatever is cheaper after that h22 or k? if you got the money go for it if not stick with whats cheap. the way i see it, it all comes down to money$$$$$$$

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I've seen a hand full of the swaps done into my car (EM2-2001 civic coupes)
i still think the engines are bit pricey. I'd wait for them to come down and for the swap tobecome a little more perfected seeing as thou you you have to swap everthing oout

**EDIT** Im thinking the RSX motor not the Si
You have to swap damn near everything for the type-S motor

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I think B and D series motors will be around for a long time to come. The K series just doesnt do it for me as the D and B series does. I dont know what it is...

i would love that car i have a 96 civic hatch with a new engine and just picked up a 1990 DX CRX beater and love that thing more than my civic even though it needs an transmission

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

with the ungodly amount of money you'd spend on a bling bling mad tite JDM K series engine, you could build even a a d or even a costly B series MONSTER to totally dominate a K20

willahlborn 06-12-2004 11:56 PM

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I agree. The only reason I can think of to do this swap over a B or a D would be the "look at me" factor, and that's gone already. I've already seen three of these swaps, and I don't even get out that much :P

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

If I had the money I'd be all over on a K-series swap, B-series engines are great and all, but were designed in 1988, its time to step up ;)

I wanna do a K-series CRV-tec engine ;D

btw, that fucker has my wheels

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I too if i had the money would be all over k series. 215 hp with hondata k-pro on a bone stock motor, can't beat that for 2 liters

Maybe in a couple years when all the hype dies down, it'll be logical to do K-series swaps.

for the money, you can make a 1.6L make 300hp. so yes, you can beat it, easily.

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

right now people are all hopped up on this k-series idea so that means greater demand, and if we take a peak at our price system notes from economics we see that greater quantity demanded=greater price per unit. when they come out with the r series or whatever then k-series prices will drop and kyle can afford one.

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

if it was a inhouse job then I'll give him propers, otherwise not, because profeesional shops have already added the kseries swap to their list of 'add ons'.
btw chevy 350's are still around in mass quantities, b and d series ain't going nowhere.

they also put chevy 350's in like 20 different cars, and kept putting them in those 20 different cars for over 20 years. Plus, you dont have to import a chevy 350 from overseas.

I think I'm going to find a jdm chevy 350 just because that would be the most awesome thing ever.

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

I think it was inhouse at FBR, they posted a shitload of pics after they finished the swap on HT...its funny because they are selling it and I think they only finished this a month or two ago???(I might be thinkg of another shop)

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

in my own personal opion i think that k series swaps are over rated.. yeah the produce 200+hp but for the money.. u could build some tighter faster ---- then that...

Turbo90Accord4DR 06-13-2004 05:56 PM

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

you can build a 240+ k series for less than you can build a 240+ b series (stock k24a block with k20a2 or k20a head)

bam ------ bam

Re:i didn't know this was possible....

You should be glad theres hype and a demand for the K's that means there will be less demand for the B's and H's and they will hopefully come down in price.

I'm hoping to get a K-series motor soon but I'll probably get the package deal where the motor is still in the S2K and just avoid the whole swap part of it.

A S2K has a F20C not a K-series engine. ::)
Or are u being funny meaning you are just going to buy an S2K instead of doing a swap, but still its not a K-series. It you make more since if you said you were going to by a SI or RSX or Element or CRV? :P
