I blew the d16a1 in my new crx hf (Pics and Vid)
Well today was a very nice day here in NY so I thought it would be a good idea to move the latest car to my collection, an 1987 crx hf with a d16a1. I bought the car off a friend knowing that it had a bad rod knock. Well i had to move it from my parent's house to their other house out in the hamptons that has a garage so I can work on it in the winter time. The houses are about 50 miles away from each other. I knew there was no way in hell it would make there so I took some pics and vids

Before I left on the trip I put some of this stuff in hoping it would make it last a bit longer because it would thicken up the oil a whole lot:
No way in hell i was going to leave without this:
The tach was jumping around quite a bit the whole trip. This is what it sounded like while driving it(i was laughing like a little school girl). That was my friend driving next to me in the van so he could tow me. The odometer doesn't work(right click save as):

It made it about 15 miles being passed by grandmas with walkers. The car was shaking violently when all of a sudden it made a bad shake and then I heard a loud crash and felt something go under my feet then my seat. I look in the rearview and see what looked like a piston going right at my parent's van driven by my friend. He runs it over then we both pull over. The front of the van is covered in oil. We both get out and go back to see what we thought was a piston. It wasn't a piston but rather the whole back of my block where the oil filter goes into the block. I moved it out of the road and saw some other pieces(rod cap):
That's all i have for now. Next week when I start to pull the motor I'll be sure to take more pics of the destruction. Hope you all enjoyed, cause I sure did

good thing for that Tow Rope huh? It's a good little project. Glad you got it to your destination safely.

LOL The rattling is the rod wanting to come out of the engine. I think it spun a bearing so it was metal on metal contact for a while.
The engine was shot anyway and i already have a few others laying around so i wasn't going to keep it. The crank was already trashed.

Ahaha! Your the one who's been driving around with a basketball sized hole in the floor! Good to put a face to the neame. Everytime I saw that picture I couldn't stop laughing about it.

All my friends think i am crazy for driving it like that.
I think everyone within a 50 mile radius knows me and that I have a turbo first gen...
Today I am driving the hf to my parent's house, which I have never done before because it just sat in my driveway since I bought it. All of a sudden a car passes me and then they slow down and pull along side me. I am looking at the kid in the passenger seat and he's like, "I know you and your cars". He says, "you have another crx, a blue first gen that's turbo." I have no idea who this kid is but this ---- happens to me all the time.
I am sure everyone on this site is known for their cars by people in their town, but it always puts a smile on my face when people say that.
