I believe Forged and Hypereutectic pistons are about the same price. If I'm not mistaken, Hypereutectic pistons are able to be used with non-forged rods, which makes them a nice choice to guys with a low budget. In this case though, it dosen't benefit us honda guys since rods give out at about the same point our ring lands do! I do know that alot of muscle car guys run Hypereutectic pistons in their muscle car's(namely the Keith Urban's).

I run the stock hypereutectic pistons in my 97 GT. This motor has 280,000 miles on it and runs perfectly. Compression is 180 all around. I have been running a blower with 10 psi boost for the last 173,000 miles. The car uses 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles currently. I have had some mild detonation a few times but never going all out at 10 psi boost.

Compression in my 5.0 is allegedly 9.2:1 with the piston/head combo I have. I never did a compression test on that motor. The 180 all around is in my high mileage 97 GT which has a 4.6L. There was some variation between cyl but it was between 179-185. that motor is 9:1. I have been testing it for years-nearly everytime I change plugs which is every 10K. It never changes.
