there is one year of fox's that came with HE's though. i believe 92.
i meant to say the NEWER gts, like the sn95 5.0 and the OHC engines.

Yep. 93 and newer stangs both 4.6 and 5.0 were hyper. Before that they were forged. I run the stock hypereutectic pistons in my 97 GT. This motor has 280,000 miles on it and runs perfectly. Compression is 180 all around. I have been running a blower with 10 psi boost for the last 173,000 miles. The car uses 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles currently. I have had some mild detonation a few times but never going all out at 10 psi boost. I think the hypereutectics get an undeserved bad rap. With a decent tune, as I have shown in my case, they are excellent. A bad tune will kill any pistons. All that being said, building a forced induction motor from the ground up, forged are the way to go. They give you a little more room for error. Mustang people running forced induction with stock pistons usually see ringland failures if they detonate under boost. For my turbo car, I used forged pistons in the 5.0.

whats the compression on your 5.0? is it stock compression? whats the psi in each cylinder?

Re: hyperutechtic pistons...anyone know about them????
i gotta agree with alot of what is being said. Hyper-eutectic's are infact stronger than a cast piston, yet are also infact weaker than a forged one. I believe Forged and Hypereutectic pistons are about the same price. If I'm not mistaken, Hypereutectic pistons are able to be used with non-forged rods, which makes them a nice choice to guys with a low budget. In this case though, it dosen't benefit us honda guys since rods give out at about the same point our ring lands do! I do know that alot of muscle car guys run Hypereutectic pistons in their muscle car's(namely the Keith Urban's).

1. HE pistons are cast
2. HE pistons are WAY cheaper than any forged peice, sometimes less then OEM replacements
3. since when did forged pistons have to have forged rods attached
4. keith urban is a country singer
5. Keith Black makes HE pistons
