I'm in Baton Rouge and campus and all around here is full of people. I went to the grocery store Tuesday and all the produce, meat, and milk(typical stuff you get everytime you go) was completely wiped out. I've heard alot of things about the aftermath and the death toll and none of it is good Can't really do anything right now except hope for the best and wait and see what happens.

Man, did everyone hear about the boats comeing to move the people from the one hospitle to the other, and snipers started shooting at them? Its like wtf..... but to top if off, i saw on the news these people stole a car, packed 4 adults and 5 kids in it and got pulled over and arrested for stealing the damn car, so they could leave. Its like wtf, the damn police done even know what to do.

and not to mention it should of been underwater to begin with, someone should of seen it comeing

the fact that a city with that many people is build on the end of a sand delta at negative sea level elevations is retarted. its like building a house in the middle of a flood plain that floods every spring, and you know that it does, then being like wtf just happend when it does flood.

that is irrelevant at this point though. what matters is that the affected people can get their lives back together. i donated some bucks to the red cross the other day to try to help. my heart goes out to all that lost loved ones.

They are saying 6 months for full drainage of the city. The main problem is foundation to most of the byuildings will be ruined but I guess the french district isnt bad at all so they will rebuild.

How about the police getting shot by looters? It's just progressively getting worse. The looters/criminals need to be dealt with accordingly and if deadly force is needed then by all means use it. I just got a mass email from the chancellor of LSU saying that some of the city is in a state of "civil unrest." They're having riots downtown at the Pete Maravich assembly center. People are getting robbed, raped and car jacked. Now I'm my parents an additional 50 miles west and they are still problems at places around here with refugees.
