huh...didn't know I was selling my car

Any of you guys get people who stop by out of the blue and knock on your door and ask you if you want to sell your car? Man, with my last three cars I've had people who've stopped and came up and knocked on my door and asked me if I would sell my car... First my the Z and I've had two people...one old ass dude and then a younger kid. Then the 86 I had two people, one asian kid and then just another kid. Then this past week, both guys my age who saw my VR4 while driving by. It only says VR4 on the taillights but other then that it's totally debadged. Both of them gave me their numbers and told me they were both extremely interested and to think it over and give them an offer. This just started after I got out of honda's as I never got that before. No bashing Honda's but this is a first for me. Take in mind that I never had any thoughts of selling any of these car and told anyone I was selling then when the people would stop by. The recent guys about the VR4 know their ---- and want it cause it's pretty much stock and the rarity on them. I thinking of calling each of them back and telling them 3600 cause I only paid 2800 for it and only have put a new radiator in it and the wheels I bought brand new. I really wanted and still want a Impreza wagon but couldn't find any at the time. Bluebook they don't go for much but I've heard these are like the Grand National of imports. I found one about 160 miles away for 3600 and the people said they would meet me halfway. With one kid already and the new one due at the end of August I really like the wagon for the room and just like the looks of the impreza.

thats crazy, you should sell the vr4. You could probably get 4,000 if they were that interested

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

It's just weird. Dudes at my door and just asking if I want to sell my car. :S Even with it needing a new clutch and bad turbo you think I could get 4g's for it? It's a midwest car but body is really nice besides a ding in the door and rust on the hood. I mean I drive the car every day and it never let me down once besides when the radiator blow out from a patch the old owner slapped on it. If I can't find a decent a Impreza wagon then I won't sell it. I won't settle for nothing else. But any other people have folks just stopping over out of the blue? Lol, yesterday the last guy stopped over and my wife let him in and I was in the bathroom which is right off of the living room and I was washing up in my undies and she's like..."there's someone here about your Galant". I look over and he's like 10 feet from me in my undies. Hahahahah. She's like "oh sorry I'll get you some shorts." How's that for a first introduction. :1

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

Back when I had the del sol people would try to buy it, even though it was beat up :l

One day at work I went to my car to go home, and there was a note under the wiper saying "I would like to buy your car, please call" and had their number. Then another time I was at a gas station and someone asked if I wanted to sell it. Then finally, when I totalled it by hitting a telephone guidewire and pulling the front end in, I parked it at a nearby local gas station and when I went to get it picked up I told the gas station guy thanks for letting it sit there. He said no problem and that a couple people asked him about selling it.

WTF? The front end was tore up twice, had stock wheels on it, and was a shitty s model. I guess people just like the 2-seat targa top action.

ive had a couple random people asked if i would sell my 89 prelude, and that car is rusted beyond belief :3. i guess every once and a while you get that certain person that is a total enthusiast of your car. Around here i know you can sell that vr4 for about 4g's with the bad turbo

lol. I'll tell them 4G's and if they say no then it's no biggie. I never planned on selling and this is more of a feeler. I have a 16G and a clutch/flywheel possibly lined up from Mike. I haven't found anything I really want and don't want to settle for just anything so it's probably gonna stay in the drive way for now.

In minneapolis G-VR4s go for much more than 4gs. I've seen them as high as 5-6k if there in really good condition.

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

Highest i heard a locally lightly modded gvr4 go for was 6g's to someone in canada.Ask for 4k+ because of the rarity.---- i know someone who sold a gvr4 shell for $1500.

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

I mean it's a 92 with 178k and everything is all original...engine, tranny, original 14B, yada yada. I just wish I could find a nice Impreza wagon. I don't like Legacy wagon cause they are a bit big for what I want. Not to mention if I wanted a Legacy wagon I could score a RHD wagon since my wife works at city hall and gets dibs on whatever the city is selling first. Police station is getting rid of their meter maid 99 legacy wagon for cheap like under 2k. It's autotragic so it's the only thing that keeps me away from it. EJ20TT swaps go for dirt cheap on ebay all the time.

same here... when my SI hatch broke down in feb. it just sat on the street collecting dust for a month or so i had to roll it into the driveway on street sweeping day , 2 people came buy asking to buy it, one dude offered me 500 (i offered him a swift kick in the nutts) and some other dude wanted to trade a shitty primered out regal with expired tags none of the bodyparts were the same color 2 ponchos for seat covers, and $1k, I said no... its too clean to sell for that cheap even if it doesnt run.. I fixed it right for about 130 bucks. all it needed was some headwork and a new HG
Attachment 28305

Ive only seen 2 VR4's in my life, one at the junkyard where i plucked its precious 450's The car was complete (no damage or anything), and one in action at the street races, where it killed a turbo'd 350Z. Its a sick ass car. The poor mans EVO.

If the body is in sweet shape, $4K. Those chassis are hard to find, and some people have a serious hard on for them.

I've had people approach me at gas stations over my beater ??? and I used to come out of restaurants, malls, and once my own driveway to find people climbing in and out of and popping the hood on my old GT6 like it was a jungle gym in a public park. That ---- was kind of not cool at all.

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

People do that becuase they think they are going to get a good deal. Guarantee that they will all lowball the hell out of you. They can't find one they want at the price they want so hopefully they will get lucky.

My one friend does that all the time and he does get some really good deals. He puts notes on cars that have been sitting for a long time or at mechanic's places and people sell good cars for next to nothing.

Its like fishing, you keep casting till you get a good one...

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

I've never had that happen, but anytime I see a crx with no rust out here I'm tempted to ask if they want to sell it. You never know, they could just see it as an old car and give it to you on the cheap. You'll never know if you don't try, just like that transvestite back in........nevermind. :-[

I had some idiots doing that to my civic when I was selling it before I even got there :S Then they asked where the keys were :1 Dude said the civic was worth nothing (sold it for $1800 with a rod knock) and then they looked at my nissan and said it wasnt worth a dime over $2000. I sold it to a DEALERSHIP for $3200. I hate people. :l

---- it, I can't find ---- and I ain't settling for anything except a wagon. So the Galant is staying with the family and getting some presents in the next few days...new clutch...flywheels...new snail...and the Z is getting the rest it needs to tidy up the turbo setup. 8)

yup, my cousin has a WRX with an STI block, crower cams I believe, some big turbo [i think equivalent to a gt35], spec C jDM 6 speed tranny, STI rear end, blah blah blah tuning, and it's slow... fun but slow. He now bought an 07 sti and it's just as slow. and he's trading his WRX for a bone stock one with a little bit of money, not even enough to cover the cost of the spec c tranny.

but I would still love to have a wagon... preferably not a wrx though... a volvo would be sicc.... henry get a volvo wagon... or get a benz wagon and go euro styling!

stillnoturbo 04-04-2007 08:32 AM

Re: huh...didn't know I was selling my car

I ain't touching euro ---- will my ten foot pole. Parts are pricey and far and between for small simple ----. Not many junkyards around here have ---- like that let alone a benz wagon or beemer wagon.
