custom crower cams. vtec @ 6700, redline @ 9500
OBD-1 B18C1 w/ virgin P72 ECU

bank account: $0.53. hello CCA intercooler
vtec at 6700 is stock on that ecu or you want vtec to kickin at 6700, your gonna have to chip your ecu to do that, and do you want your redline to be at 9500?

if you unhook the vtec pressure switch then the comp wont turn on vtec

if you get a switch with 1 input and 2 outputs and feed 12v to the solenoid and 12v to the pressure swith input on the ecu that should swap your cams over and activate the fuel/ignition part of vtec as well

you really should chip the ecu though

actuall im not sure if the pressuer switch sends 12v to the ecu or just like 5v

check first

i've been meaning to tune. im just broke as hell and its fine as a daily driver. just sucks whenever someone wants to race from a roll I can't show em much of a race. and i actually got to borrow a buddy of mine's VTEC controller last time I went to the track. managed to get a 14.7 out of 2 runs, and without it best i got was a 15.6 =\

how does VTEC engage? (i know how it works, duh)
ECU signals the solenoid, then the solenoid signals the ECU for different map/timing? cuz then I would only need to switch the solenoid wire. why would i need to have another for the pressure switch?

The pressure switch is a safety feature. If there isn't enough oil pressure, the ECU won't command VTEC. The computer switches to it's different timing/fuel maps when it commands VTEC.

You do NOT want to activate vtec with a switch, because you will still be running the low cam fuel and ignition maps.
well, i would figure at 4.4 it would be like "wtf no vroom vroom?" and throw a code, but wouldn't it still try to engage vtec? as in, hit the switch, vtec engages, ecu is like "yay vtak" and switches the maps? why wouldn't they maps switch over once the vtak worked?

you should just hook it up to a tach's shiftlight.
