How to transport your B-Series when Hotrex flakes on you!

Find your daily driver...my drug of choice, my CL 2.3 Premium
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/1.jpg

Take out the passenger seat.

Find a parts car with a good engine and take it out with one big ass hoist...this thing is massive and old, but worked extremely well.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/3.jpg

Pull the engine over dirt, uneven pavement and put it on the middle of a hill driveway.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/4.jpg

Carefully stick the engine in the passenger side of the CL.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/5.jpg

Drive to where the engine is being donated into and hook the engine back up to the hoist and back it out of the car.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/6.jpg

When the engine is clear of the car, pull the car away...much easier than trying to move this thing on mudd :(
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/7.jpg

Clean up the engine with a steamer and degreaser and mount the massive turbo.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/8.jpg

Jack up the car way in the air and try your best to slide this thing on a heavy ass steel plate under the car.
http://www.nehondatuning.com/enginetransport/9.jpg

Finished for the day...in a couple of weeks I will be pulling this up from the bottom.

Thanks go to Hotrex for not calling me at all this week as we had planned to have him come down here with his truck. But there is some satisfaction in doing this ---- all by myself.

Cant wait to get back up and running...I took off the IM to port match it a little and smooth out the runners a touch and clean out the old gunk that was in there. I am using everything from my old setup and will be adding a Hondata intake manifold gasket and larger (2.5 Bar) MAP sensor ;)

Hey, at least now you know you can fit an entire LS motor in the passenger side of a 2-door CL or Accord :)

I had to do the same thing with a D16 full swap in my 94 civic coupe. Good times.

Last time I checked, Hotrex has an integra, his mom has a saturn, and his brother has a civic. Where did he think the truck was gonna come from?

Damn, it seems you have something in common with the unibomber. He was building bombs in his hut though. lol.

I had to use the trap door in the rear seat and push it all the way thru...it was pretty handy how this hoist breaks down for easy storage/transport.

Re:How to transport your B-Series when Hotrex flakes on you!

yeah I could see how it can break down, but even after that I could imagine it fitting in there.

NICE!

Also, why dont you show some more nude shot of that crx, it looks minty!

Is that all your clutter? :o

Any damage to the CL after all that? How far did you have to drive that motor? ???

Looks like you had a picnic on the side of the road. ???

oh Hhahaha, the lip looked a little funny figured you rigged it on there, and I thought you had the 90-91 crx vents on the bottom, but it's your charge piping :-X

That's funny, my bad, well pics of the DA too than haha

I was gonna ask you how much it cost to paint you 'crx' that color too, since i don't recall that be factory for crx's, it's nice I dig it. Maybe if I scroung enough dough to pay for a real paint job that'll be the color ;)

SO on with more pictures! ;D

I dinged the glove box, not crazy bad though.

That clutter is my GF's parents garbage...just where I moved the seat to take the pic.

The car is stored are her parents house because they have the room. My garage is about 25-30 miles away from there. I just drove slow and took my time.

It was really a lot easier in and out of the CL than I expected. Bonus for that!

Well with the site being down this week...I know you would have come but I thought you and Jordan were working on his manifold today? I should get your number too and put it in my phone just in case I need some help in the future ;)

Anyways, it was kinda fun doing it myself :D

Re:How to transport your B-Series when Hotrex flakes on you!

Yeah the whole manifold went to hell. WE worked from 8 am to 6 pm and ended up putting his old ---- back on. I need to modify the manifold we made to work in his car. We based it off mine and were off by 1/2 inch. Needless to say I either cut 3/4" out of the mani or we cut a hole in his hood!

What? Hotrex flaked on someone? Oh damn and I thought he was the one alway's complaining to me when i can't make it to a meet :o DOn't worry Chris, thats an experience we've all been through. I ripped the back seats completely out of my hatch and hauled engines/trannies bigger/heavier that the almighty D powering the damn thing. I hauled a B18C and tranny all the way from Phillidelphia PA. one time back to MA.!!! :-X

Man Chris, that is an instant classic "how to". I really like that gen teggy that you pulled that motor from. Anyway, nice job and good luck with the "new" motor.
