I run spybot on my PC at home and get about 20 a week. Its a good program.

I prefer to use a Mac, b/c people dont take the time to ---- with them. I have a Mac at work and a powerbook at home, but my wife hates using it.

Apache under OpenBSD is the most secure webserver you can build. Since OpenBSD costs $$, FreeBSD is the next best alternative. Of course, any server is only as good as the person who configures it. Get and read the "Maximum [OS] security" books, they're pretty decent primers. Then just make sure to check bugtraq, securiteam, slashdot, packet storm, etc regularly to keep abreast of any new security holes and get them patched quickly.

Windows 2k/XP Pro can be fine for general home use, but you really have to know what's going on to avoid all the BS out there. Dumping IE and running FireFox is the one biggest security boost anyone running a windows OS can make. Using a good antivirus with regular, automatic updates is probably the second.

hey forget freeware. if you use MIRC.com with IRCSPY.COM you can get any i mean any program that you can think up with full crack keys. if you don't know how to use mirc i can do it for you. just write me a list and i'll mail it out for a small fee.

agreed, except for a few things. last time i checked, openbsd was available for free download?
http://www.openbsd.org/ftp.html
also, i happen to own many books on the topic of o/s security. they are usually pretty descent, but by the time they hit the bookstores they are obsolete. save your money and just keep up with your security needs with google.

because apache was meant for *nix. it does not run "right" on windows. it even says so on their website. and you dont have to be a "1337 h4Xz0r" to use *nix. i have experience in many mainstream operating systems as well as proprietary ones, and i just happen to prefer linux for desktop, unix for server, and windows for gaming ONLY.
