How To set up a Bit Torrent

Peer 2 Peer (Morphous, Aries, limewire, kazaa) is an easy way to download stuff but IMO a bit torrent is a better/Safer way. Setting up a bit torrent is just as easy as a Peer 2 Peer.
First go to Phonix labs (http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/) and download the Peer Guardian. This blocks your IP from Gov, EDU, Music, Ads, basicly secures you an instant steathmode interweb status. Make sure when you are setting this up that you check Never block HTTP.

Then you download your Bit Torrent Client here (http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0....Comet&tag=srch) I use BitComet which is the first one on the results. Its mad easy, accept all defaults on install and you are done.

at this point you are set up to download bitTorrents but I always make a short cut to the Download folder so I can move what ever I download out of there. I always put it on a another HD for space reasons. Also I would recomend AVG (http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0....t=AVG&tag=srch) for Virus protection if you dont alreayd have something. and IF you have Norton anything I would advise removing it and using AVG. it will be easier in the long run.

Use www.torrentz.com / www.torrentspy.com / ThePiratebay.com etc. to search for stuff to download. you will type in 300 in the box and everythign associated will pop up. Pick which one you want and it will show you which websites have that torrent. then just click to go to the site then click again to download the torrent and the BitComet you installed will take it over from there.

then smoke a fatty and enjoy 300 :6

I prefer the uTorrent client (www.utorrent.com). Not only is it small and have a lot of features, you can get it zipped in case you don't have administrator access at work to install anything...

www.isohunt.com is and old skoool bittorrent search engine

As a computer dipshit, I can say that Imburne has changed my life by helping me set up torrents. He held my hand threw the whole thing, and I must thank him for allowing me to surf HMT at this very moment while listening to Too Short "Get in where you fit in".

This one is ok as well....
http://www.torrentbox.com/torrents-browse.php?news

Been using bit torrent for a while now...use bitlord, based off old tech. but still works well.
Should mention also that torrents are getting cracked down on by now, tracking and what not, its not hard to get your ip and track back to your local isp and have them call you about d/ling copywritted crap --- espcially movies these days.
Music not so much yet....

In fact the above actually happened to a guy i use to work w/

So what do i do? I get it from blockbuster and then rip it and burn it....vid quality will be much better as well :4
I use dvdfabdecrypter for this purpose and it can be found at:

Re: How To set up a Bit Torrent

I'm in the process now following steps and I'm lost on how PeerGuardian blocks IPs. Does it just run in the background? And Bitcomet allows you to download Bittorrents from the sites listed, correct?

EDIT:

The PeerGuardian is running and it has 965MILLION blocked IPs.... :l What's that mean, technically, haha?

Is 314MB big? Haha, I'm downloading like 4 albums and it's like .1% done after 3 mins. :X

Re: How To set up a Bit Torrent

If you want blistering downloads you have to find the torrents that have mad seeders.

and yes Peer gaurdian blocks certain IP's and Subnets from seeing you. the 965 million ip's blocked means thats how many can't see you. it does not mean 965 mil have knocked on your door. lol

If you only have 3% after that long try a different file. you probably have like 1 seeder on it or something

ive been using torrents for music for a while now...never had any problems.
about a month ago i decided to give wii backups a try. last night i noticed my network was down. reseted everything and after a couple of hours i get a reference number and to call my ISP. I called they said i downloaded copyrighted content.

my question is that with peer blocker shis shouldnt happen right?

Who is your ISP? Most will send warning letters before just shutting off your service. Did they reconnect after you called them?

Re: How To set up a Bit Torrent

Yeah I can tell you one way to help with that. dont seed. people will hate you but I think you'd be straight. I dunno the way I see it is, if you are into the community thing and want to seed then you join a site where you will get quality ---- but if you dont want to then you just get ---- from public sites and you take your chances.
