Great site guys!

Ok, i'm new to the whole turbo thing and i'm wondering what kind of money you are putting into your turbo setups?

Also, i'm on a small budget and would like to turbo my d16y7 eventually. What should i expect to fork out to get me blown or my car blown that is...haha. I know these are total n00b questions and everybody has a different setup, but how much money will i need to get me started?

$700-800 is the average for a full kit, you can get it cheaper if your smart or build it yourself. My twin turbo kit cost me $350

some people spend $300 some people spend $1000. it depends on where you can get your ---- from, and if you do everything yourself, and how elaborate you wanna do things.
manifolds, size/type of turbo, oil lines, fuel management...etc...

Cost me $1300, but that's with CCA FMIC, and some other nice stuff. You can build it for $800, but you can tell that's it's an 800 set up, you want it to look nice and not used Home depot EVERYTHING, expect closer to $1000-1200. Also depend on how much time you got. I spent 6 months waiting for good deals to come around. little by little

Mine took closer to 8 months. I haven't added up the price yet, but little clamps and nuts and bolts can really add up.

If you can't weld or tune properly, your cost will be a bit higher. I ended up paying about $400 for a downpipe, some miscellaneous welding (Oil return & BOV) and 3 hours of street tuning. That also included A LOT of help trying to get my oil return kit to flow properly.

Worth every penny though.

mine took a year to gather up parts cause i was dry on money $2,600 cost w/clutch and welding pipes and custom manifold labor.

i spent about 400 on my first setup...but this next turbo its gonna be a bomb setup......i think about another month it will be all good

so it can roughly cost you about $400-700

my advice buy things one at a time and if you give it a good 3-5 months you should have evrything you need

it's cool to do a super cheap set up. i could've done mine
a year before i actually did it if i would've used an FMU which i already had but sold later and a dsm side mount intercooler which i still have. i went with dsm 450s' front mount and a vafc. i started buying crap without doing too much research on this setup.
