How much does a garage cost?

Me and my fiance have been looking for houses. If you've ever looked for houses, you know that a lot of times it's about comprimise. A lot of houses we've found are awesome except for the lack of a garage so I was wondering if anyone has any idea on what it would cost to have a nice 2 or 3 car garage built.

I assume building one onto the house would be best because it could be heated/cooled by opening the adjoining door, and power would be easier this way too. But if that's not the case, lemme know.

I know that's a really vague question but I'm not looking for an exact price.

What I want to have in it
1. 2 or 3 cars
2. Spare engines, transmissions
3. 2 engine stands, engine building table
4. Nice workbench with soldering ----, welder, chop-saw, etc.
5. Tools, engine hoist
6. Misc. Garage ----.
7. Stand-up air compressor.

Putting it onto the house would be nice just for walking to and from the house.

Just having the small door open will not allow proper cooling or heating of the garage if you live in a climate that get hot or cold to any degree.

If you can't do any of the work yourself, then it is gonna cost you a bit of money.

If you would build it yourself and jank the materials, like many would, then you might be okay.

50-100k to have someone LISCENCED do it.
If you want to do it yourself make note of all building codes.

holy ----. I guess I gotta read up on construction then huh? I got at least one friend who does contracter type work. Maybe I should consult him once I move down to SC. $50-$100k OMFG I had no idea.

50-100g's is a little...ummm...extreem! my dad is building a 3 car garage, heated, electrical, windows, gonna have a small bathroom, concrete floor with a water drain...i think hes gonna spend right around 12g's. built.

consider one of those cheaper garages that are in the back of some magazines like motor trend and stuff. you can get one of those cheaper. might not be exactly what you want, but it will be a nice place to start ;)

if you want your 3 car garage to match your house brick and shingles and ---- itll cost that much

if you want it to look like a barn itll be super cheap
are you sure you have this much room on your property?
maybe we arent thinking the same dimensions

8-10G should build a basic two car garage.Depending on your local regulations having it attached to your house means your garage contents are covered by your house insurance.

i should have been a little more specific....my dad is building a "pole barn", its not attached to the house. Still gonna be reall dam nice though. and im not 100% sure on the dimensions. all I know is hes gonna have a "3 car garage" spot for the truck, spot for the harley...and then a spot for whatever

Pole barns, IMO, are the best bang for the buck.

You will not need heat, so that is nice. A/C would be nice, but I am not sure if you are gonna need it.
