You wont regret it. Your mortgage will be a fraction of what rent would be, and the principle payment pretty much goes back into your pocket in the form of equity.

congrats man, i just closed on my house about a month ago, i felt the same way, i'm only 22 and wasn't sure if i was ready to commit to a mortgage payment, but once you get past the down payment :P the rest is cake! my mortgage payment is 100 dollars cheaper than i have ever paid anywhere for rent, and the house is 10 times nicer/bigger than an apt. not to mention your own yard and what not. everything is a tax write off, i'm replacing a lot of stuff in the house before we move in, and it's all tax deductable, so is your interest on the house, and i think your taxes on the house are even tax deductable not to mention equity, usually value of a home goes up as long as you keep it nice, while at the same time, the amount you owe goes down, so it's a win win situation, i got my house for 20k less than what it was appraised at, so somebody basically gave me 20k to buy this house because now i have 20k in equity as soon as i move in. it's a win win, do it!!

Yup, you can't beat owning your own home!! I bought my house 5-6 years ago and the principal/interest payment was less than I was paying for rent, like everyone else said. Only downfall, my priorities kinda changed for a while, I lost focus on my cars and was always going to Home Depot to get stuff for the house and whatnot, you have to be careful of that. Seriously though, my only regret, I wish I would have stuck to my guns about buying a house with a 2 car (or bigger) garage. I have a 1.5 car garage and have collected so much crap, it's full. I even built a 12' X 12' storage barn in my back yard and it's full of crap. I rent a 15' X 20' storage area to keep my Nissan in during the winter so I can use the garage for other things if need be. LOL. It's cool, you'll be happy you did it!!

peace
Griff

same here, i've dropped some loot at home depot in the past month :P as far as wanting a bigger garage, just take out a home equity loan and build out back, this will also increase the value of the house, so it all evens out

I wish i had my own house for my family an I. To be honest that's better than having a car. I've been saving up for some time to buy a house, but it is more expensive here in New York. But i still have to get one. I want my own property. The value always goes up.
