Re:How many use gloves when working on cars?
i used latex gloves if i have em ... well depends what im doing
and i use mechanix gloves when i am workign around hot ----.. like at work when cars come in after being driven for a while and the oil and all that ---- is hot... i don't mind washing my hands but if u are working on customers cars u don't want to have to wash your hands everytime u need to get in the car and movie it or whatnot.. so gloves are kinda nice becuase u can shead the pair and have decently clean hands and don't have to worry about getting yelled at for getting there ---- all dirty |
Re:How many use gloves when working on cars?
I use gloves when I dont want to get dirty. I got some of that orange cleaner stuff and it works well, but you still have to wash your hands a bunch of times before they are completely clean.

Re:How many use gloves when working on cars?
This is a perfect example... look at beaus hands, and compare them to jeff's ;)
grant it, he does do alot more fabrication type work and heavier duty stuff, But I normally always wear gloves at work. Nothing like going out with a girl showering her all the nice grease in your hands from working all week. But It really depends on what the job is.. |
Re:How many use gloves when working on cars?
I was pulling off some 10 year old rotors the other day, with that nasty rust grit everywhere. I used my fluorescent green mechanix gloves.
Dammit, they just put me in a "all business" kinda mood. But there is some fine work, that they are too bulky for. Oh, and I've used nitrile gloves for packing CV boots before... -PHiZ |
Re:How many use gloves when working on cars?
I don't wear gloves, and I don't usually worry about getting my hands too clean either. I have dial soap here at school, and it doesn't do jack. I like the smell of grease/oil/gas though, so it is ok for me.
and yeah, packing bearings sucks without gloves! |
