How low is TOO low
I finally found a hatch,
90 civic dx hatchback I wanna lower it right away and get the suspension all done, im gonna go with some camber kits and lowering springs for now, how low is to low to go As of now, on my civic coupe, its lowered 1.25 in the front and 1.50 in the rear i want the civic hatch to be lower I found a guy selling some 2.00 in front and 2.25 in rear, does this sound ok, or am im gonna be ------- with rubbing and having to go gangster syle up into driveways and ---- |
Re:How low is TOO low
2.25 isnt too low, mine was lowered 3.5 all winter :-X I mean, it wasnt fun, but it wasnt too bad. But those specs make the rear lower, do you really want the back of your car lower than the front?

Re:How low is TOO low
sorry lol, my bad, i meant 2.25 in the front and 2.0 in the rear

Re:How low is TOO low
anything 2 is usually all good. It's when you start scraping on the little blue square things in the road that your to low. (I think they're used to mark fire hydrants)

Re:How low is TOO low
what blue things, lol anyways, cool thanks stealth

Re:How low is TOO low
my ---- is lowered 4 inches.......

Re:How low is TOO low
You know when theres a fire hydrant on the side of the road? Directly out in the middle of the street you'll see a blue one. They use it so that if theres a fire and its really smoky the fireman can find where the hydrant is. They are the same as the yellow ones that mark lanes. Maybe I should have just used that as an example. lol

Re:How low is TOO low
lol, my exuast pan hits lane markers when i switch lanes, i think thats a good height. ::)

Re:How low is TOO low
I put the Eibach back springs on the front of my car and cut like 14"(not really that much) off the stock back ones. My car was super low. It was such a shitty ride too. My front bumper was like 2" off the ground. I didn't care about the bumper because it was already wrecked. :-\

Re:How low is TOO low
your exhaust will usually be the lowest part on the car, then the oil pan(doh!) then the frame. My car scrapes the exhaust and sometimes the oil pan if I don't take speed bumps right, or go into driveways/alleys, with out rolling gangster style

Dont really have a problem with the oil pan being to low in an EG with stock GSR mounts.. i was hitting the frame and the header. |

Re:How low is TOO low
i dont like springs because the back ones usually bottom out when u use regular non adjustable springs.
i use agx gr2 with coilovers, stiff ride awsome control, wheels stay on the ground even during jumps |

Re:How low is TOO low
My car is dropped about 2.5" all around. it was wrecking my front tires (camber) so I got a camber kit for the front... then the wheels were rubbing on my fenderliners. So I just ripped them out. ;D She never sees harsh weather (mostly) so it's not a big deal.

Re:How low is TOO low
I think it depends where u live. If the roads are fucked up then u can't have your car slammed. I had blades on my car w/ a 3" drop in the front and a 2 3/4 drop in the rear. It looked good as hell but i couldn't drive into certain driveways. Now i'm running on 17" rims and I'm not satified how it rides because of turns and the way it looks. So i'm going to get 16's. :)

Re:How low is TOO low
i have a 2" drop in front and 2.25" in the back, a bit bouncy, the ride quality isn’t all that bad, i can drive through speed bumps at a pretty moderate speed. it also depends on which brand of springs your getting. so yeah, what kind of springs are you getting?

Re:How low is TOO low
too low is when you start your car and when you gas it you don't move. Any thing above that is a okay. :P
I had my hatch's stock springs heated til there were only 2 good coils left. The ride wasn't to bad, hard dips just sucked. It wasn't as bouncy as I expected, just cruisin down the street or freeway the car didn't rock back and forth like a see-saw like some cars I have seen. I eventually got progress springs (which weren't too shaby) and put the heated ones on my rex at the time, and on the rex they felt better than when they were on the hatch. So I guess spending 20 bucks to have then heated wasn't too bad, and you can't beat that price with a stick. I don't know if I had any point to put across or how this can help you, but what's said is said and hopefully you gained some insight from it. -Murdoc |
